I will be visiting that area soon and I would like to know if there is any buddy that could offer some guidance.

- where to go for off road?
- Website available?
- pricing.
- is there permit required.

Thank you.

The dunes up there aren't for any vehicles. The only dunes you can drive on are down at the silver lake sand dune. There are plenty of seasonal roads up there but the closest off roading is twisted trails I believe

In 1.5 hours you can be at a 4x4 park in Harrison Mi..

Rocks and Valleys Off-Road Park | Harrison, MI

Haven't been there yet but looks fun.
There are some nice on road drives in the TC Suttons Bay Area. Nice country. Stay out of the wine shops unless you want to be a passenger. Some good wine up there!

Have had plenty of fun WALKING around Sleeping Bear Dunes State Park, but vehicles have to behave themselves. However, winter is another matter. Hundreds of additional square miles between Michigan and Wisconsin to play on. Getting hung up on an ice ridge while dozens of miles offshore is an experience you will remember.

Sleeping Bear is a great place but the lake is deceptively far away. Bring plenty of water to drink.
Talking about driving on ice is not for the faint of heart or wallet. It is incredibly expensive to pull a vehicle off the bottom. I live near Green bay and we get a few every year in the area usually from ice fishers.
I would rather take my chances on land but that's me. Have fun.
