You do know what "invoice" means right?
That's not the same as "MSRP"
"Invoice" is what the dealer actually paid Chrysler for that vehicle...
So 1% below invoice means the dealer lost roughly $200-$300 dollars.

I imagine how it works; is you give the dealer your Tread Lightly #, the dealer sends that off to Chrysler and gets reimbersed for their loss. Then Chrysler gets to write that off as either a loss or Non-profit donation for tax purposes...

Not exactly. Things are very murky with car dealers. You would think that's what "invoice" means, but not in the automotive world. Dealer's still make money at invoice, that's why it's possible to get below invoice.

Some would say this is getting greedy, but dealerships have gotten one over on me too many times... my turn.

Any help would be great.

Thanks again InfernoGirl!
Talked to a dealership and they had no issues with this discount and my military discount but they gave me absolutely no wiggle room to work with. So I tried, and now I'll have to see if I can make the finances work.

Total price with out taxes is 29470 for
Jeep Wrangler Mountain Edition with:
Tow Group
Automatic
Limited Slip Differential
Freedom Top

In Your Opinion is this Decent?

Seems pretty decent to me, although my opinion is based on North-East pricing.

My borther-in-law is Director of truck sales for Future Ford. I know it's not chysler but i imagine alot of their "tricks of the trade" are the same. If it's a "true invoice" than that "IS" what the dealership paid for the car. An "invoice" is their actual receipt for purchase. But that's not to say they're above "giveing" you a higher number and calling it "invoice". But there are programs and "4th of July/ End of the year" sales where they may loose money on an individuale sale, but if they hit a target number of sales the bonus from the manufacturer more than make up for it.

Dear valued Tread Lightly! member:

We are excited to announce that Chrysler has recently expanded its partnership with Tread Lightly! and has now included Tread Lightly! as part of its Affiliate Rewards program.

Now all Tread Lightly! Individual Members can take advantage of the Chrysler Affiliate Rewards program, which qualifies you for the Preferred Price* (1% below factory invoice) on a new Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge or Ram Truck purchase or lease. You can even combine this discount with current incentives† to give you a price that's up to thousands of dollars below MSRP.‡

Here's how:

1.) Visit www.chrysleraffiliates.com or call (888) 444-4321 to learn more about the program and to obtain your Control Number. You'll need the Tread Lightly! Company Code, which is D*****.

2.) Take your Control Number, along with the letter you received in your membership package with your name on it to any U.S. Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealership. You MUST have your membership letter to get the discount. If you no longer have your letter, just email us at treadlightly@treadlightly.org.

3.) Ask for a copy of the vehicle invoice, and you'll see the Preferred Price (PP) clearly listed.

4.) Drive away in your new vehicle!

Please visit the Affiliate Rewards Web Site at www.chrysleraffiliates.com for more program information.

Don't forget to take advantage of Tread Lightly!'s other benefits as well, such as a $100 rebate offer from Goodyear and a discount on insurance from Foremost Insurance.

Thank you for your continued support of our important cause! We hope you're able to take advantage of this incredible new benefit.

Sincerely,

The Tread Lightly! Staff
treadlightly@treadlightly.org

*The Preferred Price is the maximum amount to be charged by a participating U.S. dealer for an eligible vehicle. See dealer for details. A $75 administration fee applies. †Current incentives apply at time of offer. ‡The MSRP is the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. MSRP excludes tax. Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge are registered trademarks of Chrysler LLC.

I used the GoodYear rebate, along with the rebate offered through GY at the time and did infact receive both rebates. I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of this offer. If you just called Chrysler without the appropriate info, then they are likely to tell you they know nothing of which you speak....

Ask the dealer that you ordered it from.

BTW, the discount program is called Chrysler Affiliate Rewards. Tread Lightly is just a company that you can go through to get it. Be sure and say "Chrysler Affiliate Rewards" to your dealer, not Tread Lightly.

It looks like you have to join at the $100 level, not the $25 level to get access to this program.

Yeah, smacking my head on the wall right now, joined as a member got my Company Code and go to get my control number and it doesn't give a Canada option, so I call up Chrysler and the lady on the phone had no idea what I was talking about.

So looks like you can't get the discount if you're in Canada...just gave away my $100 but I guess its a good cause. Hopefully I can bargain with the dealer and get the price down some without the discount.

I used my tread lightly membership to save s bunch when I ordered my 2016 hard rock. I got a few percentages under factory invoice versus just the one percent that you are guaranteed.

Your better off negotiating a deal on a Jeep that's fresh on their lot. All dealers get 90 day financing $$$'s from the manufacturer. Therefore 1% below invoice still nets them a profit from their financing $$$'s if sold within the 90 day window plus any profit from dealer hold backs, incentives, etc. If the vehicle you're interested in is past the 90 day window, the dealer may not be as interested to wheel and deal. Unless depreciation is set to kick-in at year end.

Another option other than Tread Lightly is TrueCar. It basically does the same thing which is Friends and Family pricing except without the AR#. As an example I priced out a 2016 Rubicon 2dr in Tank with cloth Saddle interior in my area (caveat:you need to sign in to see dealer options per vehicle). It returned with an estimate of $31,045 base price which is approx 3% below invoice. You will have to factor in options which will add on top of the price and decrease the discount but in all instances that I've seen, the discount ends up being between 1%-1.5% below invoice when all is said and done. Or find a huge dealer near you that deals in volumes and you can average a 3%-4% below invoice deal such as Koons Jeep in VA. I remember buying my new VW GTI from Koons at a low offer price (5% below invoice if memory serves me correct). They didn't even blink an eye. I signed the papers and was out the door in 30min.

Koons had very competitive pricing when I was getting my quotes last month. They were almost the lowest. The dealer I went with in MD was trying to make some end of the month order # or something b/c they dropped it $700 lower than Koons. Koons, and the other people I got quotes from were shocked and told me if that REALLY was the deal I was getting, to take it!

It saved me about $400 when all said and done.

You need to buy the $100 membership level. And yes, it works. I saved over $6,000 on MSRP!

Only saved me about $2600 but was way better then the original speech of "oh we don't discount wranglers as they sell themselves"

The main benefit of the affiliates reward program, is that it let's you START price negotiations at 1% below invoice. I have regularly gotten 3% below invoice on factory orders. I know many people do better, but I think 3% is pretty good on a Wrangler.

I just start contacting dealerships in the area and let them know I'm looking to order, and I can order at 1% below invoice from any dealer, so I just ask what price they can offer me that would make me want to order from THEM. If a dealer an hour or two away gives me the best price, I simply take that to my local dealer and they haven't had any problem matching the price. I've done this on my '12, '15, and '16 JKUR's. It's saved me several thousand dollars.
