It took some patience so that I could continue to help the members there.

I don't know anything about him, but the reputation of that place as a forum with hair-trigger and touchy moderators is well-known...and that is why I don't hang out there. I have an account and visit every now and then, but almost never post.

That's a lesson for all forum moderators.

I find it so funny that everyone here finds a moderator status like some sort of police state power over everyone. Its a message board everyone.. I hope you have more to your life than worrrying about a Vbulletin rank... On another note looks like Eddie is being a huge asshole by selling one of his JK's to benefit a little girl who lost her dad. Man he is a HORRIBLE dude.

"Ken Offerbeck was not only one of the very first members of JK-Forum.com, he was also a senior moderator and a personal good friend of mine. Known best by his screen name, HappyCurmudgeon, Ken still has the hightest post count on the forum second only to me and, has been a tremendous help in making JK-Forum.com what it is today. For those of you who've been following his "I don't have good news to share" thread, you know that he had been fighting an uphill battle against an agressive form of cancer known as sarcoma and tragically, it's one he ultimately lost. In an effort to help fulfill a dream of his, to provide for his daughter's future long after he was gone, Cindy and I decided to buy his beloved Jeep, build it up, sell it again, invest the money into a college savings account and by virtue of it, help him make his dream a reality."

Many guys he has banned, including me, gave money to Ken.

It is very clear that Eddie doesn't own Ken's old JK. Off Road Evolution did the build and has driven it to events all over the country.

Eddie shut down any mention of more than 10x as many situations like Kens.

If you have noticed, now he works to drive as much traffic away from JKF to wayalife as possible. How much integrity does it take to sell a forum and them actively work to move traffic away from it to your competing forum?

Look, he has done some good things, but know that he is not a good person.

I don't really see a big deal in building up a community selling it and creating another as a sign of a bad person. If he didn't agree to a non compete upon selling JKF then he has all the rights to go out and build another community if he so pleases. That doesn't make him a bad OR good person. It seems like a bunch of people are just upset over how he treats moderators on a forum. Maybe he isn't good at that. Either way I try not to make an assumption on someone without a good reason. I just don't see him "kicking" moderators as a good reason when I have no idea what happened. Either way its not worth arguing over. I've simply met him 1 time and he was very polite and more than willing to let me check his rig. He's never made a dime off of me and he didn't ask. I hope other people won't just make assumptions on someones character based on something they don't know themselves. Truth is we know most people do... the proof is in the media...

@ oliver. have you seen this thread? Were You Banned? Or Generally Have Comments - Vent Here. - JKowners.com : Jeep Wrangler JK Forum

do you think all those people are assuming hes a bad guy from the interwebz?

i once asked a teacher what "common knowledge" was to avoid plagiarism, and he told me if you can google it and it comes up more than once and everyone says the same thing, chances are that it's probably "common knowledge".

Common knowledge doesn't make something fact. I can Google about a million things that would be a never ending argument that both sides can find TONS of results and information to.

Alrighty then, I guess this thread has run it's course.

I originally started it because of something amusing I found on youtube I thought I'd share. It quickly evolved to a JK Forum bashing fest and then rapidly turned on Eddie and then to all moderators and administrators in general. But I (we) let it ride.

I don't know any moderators or administrators from any other forums but the folks here are pretty cool. As an example, when myself and 3 other members ran a contest to give Veterans a free forum supporting membership we were going to pay for it ourselves. HelenaAG, the main administrator here, stepped in and said they would do it for free.

I don't get paid a dime, in fact I just sent in my money to renew my yearly membership. I have a family and a job I go to every day. I really enjoy this forum as well as interacting with all of you and helping where I can.

I can't speak for all moderators but I'm not thin skinned so feel free to believe what you want about me. I believe in the freedom of speech but when things are said in a public place they need to be tempered to the audience. I am glad this forum is here and that all you are a part of it.

I am not deleting this thread but I can see no use in it's continuing.

Thanks all for your opinions and hope to see you around.

This thread is now closed.
