Truck-Lite Phase 7 Headlights Installed...WOW!

Slowly adding mods the the JK and finally got a chance to upgrade the headlights.

This has to be one of the biggest improvements to the JK IMO. Was a toss up between the Truck-Lite and JW Speaker headlights. I went with TL because it looked more subtle.

It's literally a night and day difference. While I was working on the car I changed out the stock fog light bulbs with projector CREE LED bulbs.

Awesome! Mine are due to arrive tomorrow via UPS. I can't wait to get them in, as I live in a rural, area with pitch black, unlit roads. It's the second "major" mod I'm doing to my Jeep. What are the Cree foglights you speak of??? I'd love to upgrade those too! Thanks!

I am considering this, along with a brake upgrade.

I would also like to know about these fog lights you speak of. Were you able to hook the fog lights straight up to the harness? Thanks, RG

I wanted to change out the stock fog light bulbs so they match my new TL headlights. What I didnt want are the low lumens SMD LED bulbs since those lights are more for parking, signals, and license plates.

I found these Projector CREE LED bulbs online and they seem to work better than the SMD LED bulbs. They use CREE LED's in tactical flashlights so they are super bright. Mix the brightness with a projector lens that's built in and you get a decent forward white light.

The ones I bought are not anything like the more expensive Vision X or D2 LED fog lights ($300).

I only paid $45 and they project a white light just like the stock bulbs. These were straight plug n play. So basically bulbs are nothing crazy...but better than the SMD LED by far.

I went on eBay and there is a metric ass-load of these "Cree" LED fogs for sale, ranging from .99 cents to over $60, however they all look the same (just like the ones the OP has pictured), minus the mounting options. Pretty much all of them are from China so I would advise caution to any one who installs these! With the sensitive electrical system in our Jeeps, I don't know if I would want to chance it. By the way, what is the mount style of the fogs? Is it a standard 2006 or H4? Thanks!

Cree actually is the LED type, but I am interested in who makes the LED bulb you bought as well.

I got the Cree LED bulbs from iJDMtoys. The bulbs are size H16. You will have to modify by cutting off a few tabs but they snap right in afterwards.

Look for store coupon codes online if possible. I used one back in Feb when I originally purchased these bulbs for $45 plus shipping.

The majority of the LED bulbs you see out there for a reasonable price are going to be made in China. If the specs are right the CREE LED itself is made in USA.

Ya I like them. Still gives you that subtle look and a slight smoked look too.

I purchased the headlights and harness at Discountfleetsupply. Free shipping too.

Got mine at discount fleet supply also. Actually called q-tec to get them to price match but the guy was an idiot and I had to spell Dfs.com for him four times and he acted like I was bothering him then he put me on hold for over 20 minutes. Normally I would hang up after 5-6 minutes but I kept holding just so when he came back I could lay him out.

Haven't been able to adjust them yet so yeh the first ride at night might b real interesting lol.

Are the low beams a lot brighter too? Is the beam pattern different? I am also still looking for a headlight upgrade or will add LED driving lights, I guess.

In 3 months of owning my JKU, I'm yet to turn the headlights on. I have never ever ever left the house at night. Wow, sad.

No headlight mods for me.

Anyways, they're beautiful.

Regular driving in the city is okay...not great but adequate. It's those dark twisty mountain roads that make me feel that I am simply going to fall off an edge because I can't see far enough ahead into the turn- basically the peripheral part of the beam is non-existent, along with any reach. Then if someone gets on my tail, it's even more stressful.

I have trim rings for my headlights, I'm wondering how it would affect these lights since they are split in half. Logan Laboratories 100010 - Headlight Eyebrow Trim Rings in Black for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec
