Trying to run 15" rims on 2013 JK

Hey everyone,

I've been reading a lot of yes and no's as to whether I can run a 15" rim on my 2013 JK. Ive been reading I need a specific backspacing to prevent caliper rubbing but it seems no one know what that backspacing is. Im trying to get Goodyear Duratrac AT tires 33/12.50/15 Can anyone clarify if I can use 15" rims without and issues with rubbing the calipers or what backspacing I would need.

Thanks.

Wheel Products - Discount Tire Direct

Any of those will work for sure. There are others as well.
I and many others are running MB TKO without any issues.

They work

I just installed 33x12.5xR15 Duratracs on MB Chaos. They fit great, it is very close to the calipers, but have not rubbed yet. Mine wheels are Silver. I got in a mudhole that I had to back out of. Left rear was only one that stayed Silver. DTD got them to me next day in Texas.

What backspacing do you have on your rims?

Did not measure backspacing. Told DTD what jeep I had and he told me what would work.

You need 3.75" backspacing for a 15". I am running the MB TKO.

All OEM for now. I've cut the front bumper since, and I've been debating flat fenders, but no rubbing to speak of as it sits.

For a 15x8 wheel you can run either 3.75 or 4.0 for backspacing on your JK without issue. Most 15x8s are 3.75 but there are a few with 4.0. Either are fine.

I PMd discount tire direct through this forum and the representative got back to me almost immediately with a number of options for a 15 inch wheel for a 2013. As a sidenote, I've been scouring craigslist and the web for different deals and this is how I broke it down. Rims ,unless you have them, are going to cost about $500 approximately for five. If you get a set of fairly decent deal on tires off craigslist you might pay $2-$300 for 4, that brings your total to $800ish then you have to get them mounted and balanced. And then you're missing the spare. So figure about $1000 and that's a used set of tires on new rims. This is just my two cents but I would rather buy new from someone like discount tire direct then have to run around looking at different used tires and waste time doing that. When you factor in free shipping I think it's worth it just to buy new.

I know guys will probably chime in and tell me that they got a great deal but that might be area specific.

I'm not sure how you do it online, but I called them to complete my order, and they asked how I heard about them. When I said Wrangler Forum, they informed me of the discount.

im a tech at discount tire, on tuesday of this week i mounted 4 duratracs in 33-12.5-15 on MB TKO wheels onto a 2013 sport and they were perfectly fine when they left my shop. come to one of our stores and and see what they can get you in, our computer system is top of the line, updated daily and will notify any of our salesmen if the rim and tire will work, be close, or dont do it (also itll let us know where we need to place our balancing weights so they will no interfere with the calipers) stop by discount, even if you only walk away with info, youll be glad you did

I used the same tires from Discount Tire and use 15x8 US Wheel D Windows from Summit. They have 4 inch back spacing and didn't rub.

What pattern and back spacing are those GM Rally's? They look good on a Jeep.

Creative approach...
