The rattle is usually from the way a lightweight door fits on Jeep door latches. There's just not enough weight to keep it from rattling. Some people cover that door pin with a bit of rubber or tape.

But you should check out Element Doors from Bestop. I've heard they're great!

Just finished shooting a video on those doors.

I have the Warrior tube doors and love them..You might put an extra washer underneath the tube door hinge pins ..I only experience a rattle once I hit a serious road bump..
I think they look the best from all tube doors on the market..(my humble opinion of course..)

Here a promo from Warrior on their tube doors..

This is my set up..as you can see I am not using their mirror kit (too expensive) a 6inch BikeMaster mirror ($9.00 each) will do ..I leave these on, even in storage..

The nice thing about the Element doors is you have the option of putting on the enclosures to make them solid half doors. They look great when painted (in pics on the 'net).

My Element doors arrived today. I only wish it were warm enough to use them right now. The thing that convinced me to purchase them, besides Geoff, is the fact that they are pre-drilled to put my stock mirrors on and I like the idea of having the enclosures if I want to use them. One thing I really don't get though is why do they come with locks? Is that to prevent someone from stealing the doors themselves?

They didn't use to come with locks, but people kept asking. I think it's to keep mostly honest people out of the Jeep in parking lots. In fact, I've done that when driving the company rig - locked it up in the parking lot of the restaurant so I could leave my camera stuff inside. I still sat looking at it, but figured that would give me enough time, if necessary.

Oh, and this guy who works for a lift company has them on his show Jeep. He wanted locks to keep people at the show from opening and closing them constantly.

Send me a picture when you get them installed!

First, to Quantum: Yes, Tube Doors may Rattle, unless you do as others have suggested, and place a piece of Electrical Tape or something similar, around the Door Striker Pin. This will usually stop any Free-Play, thus no Rattles.

I researched all of the Tube Doors on the market several months ago, when I was looking to buy. I bought the Bestop Highrock Element Doors, because they're versatile. I bought the Tube Doors, Door Enclosure Panels, Door Bags, and the Upper Doors (Windows). This is a Full Set of doors, that can be modified any way I want. I can run Full Doors, Half Doors, Tube Doors with Bags, and Tube Doors without Bags. The cool thing about the Door Bags, is that I can have them on the Outside or Inside of the Tube Doors! My Choice! To me, the Element Doors offered the most available variations. Cost??? The entire kit, is One-Third the cost of Factory Half Doors, at this time.

FYI, the Stock Mirrors on your Full Doors will easily attach to your Tube Doors and/or the Door Enclosures. I found a spare set of Stock Mirrors on EBAY, and attached those to my Half Doors, so I don't have to switch them back and forth from Season-To-Season.

With regards to Locking, I'm glad these do Lock! I don't have to worry about someone just lifting my doors off, when I'm not around. The Door Pins slide right into the Jeep's Hinges, and unless you lock them, there's a possibility they'll be gone when you get back. The Locks work just fine, and act as a deterent, hopefully enough to discourage a Would-Be-Thief, and send them on their way.

Here are some links from Quadratec where I bought mine:

Upper Doors (Windows) (Link)
Door Bags (Link)
Quadratec Bestop Highrock Element Door Enclosure Kit (Link)

Second, to JD: CONGRATS on your purchase! You'll like 'em! What exactly did you get, I'm assuming the Tube Doors and Element Panels, but did you get the Door Bags and Upper Doors (Windows) too? Yes... Pics Please, when you get 'em!

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

BB

I only purchased the rail doors and enclosures. I'm still supporting a teenager so I will have to save up a little more for the uppers and I really don't have a need for the bags. I have to be selective in my purchases for now and hopefully one day said teenager will get a job and buy her own gas. When/if that happens, I can start putting the kind of money into my Jeep that she deserves. I will post pics in the "What Did You Do For Your Jeep Today" thread when I finally get to install them.

They used to make kids as young as eight work full days in the mines and the mills. Maybe you could fake her birth certificate and ship her off to the Navy?

Just trying to have some creative ideas here.

Kidding!

I haven't hit summertime weather as a Jeep owner yet, so I may be missing something here..... Why have these doors at all? I plan on just running without doors all together. Something I should be made aware of here?

A little protection from branches, boulders and big things that could become potentially dangerous. Also, if your state requires outside mirrors, your stock mirrors attach to these. I personally like the way they look and I spend a lot of time on the highway, so I like the idea of a little extra protection with the no-door feel.

Running without doors is not an option for me, since my wife won't ride in my Jeep without doors. I want her to enjoy riding in the Jeep, and not be afraid to get in it... hence... the Half Doors, which give her peace-of-mind, and more freedom for me without the Full Doors on. When Momma's Happy..... EVERYBODY'S HAPPY!

Cheers!

You sir, are a very smart man!

I think probably the best thing about tube doors is giving you someplace to rest your arm when you drive. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my guess. Half doors are perfect IMO... Nice and open, but I have somewhere besides my lap to rest my arm, and they keep my flip flops from flying out, and my purse...

And half doors keep all the pervs from totally checkin' you out at stop lights......
