Tuffy Combo Lock Template is Off

Well, this is a first.

I got the Tuffy pushbutton combo lock for my concealed carry drawer: Tuffy combination pushbutton security lock.

After cutting out the template that was sent with the lock, the mounting holes simply did not line up. I had to basically make my own template and drill (again) into my new $100 drawer in different locations. I finally got the lock installed which is great, since it is easy to reach and press the buttons I programmed to open quickly and without looking.

I contacted Tuffy about this and they directed me to a PDF download for the instructions/template. So even though the unit was installed, I printed out this PDF version to compare and, low and behold, it was still off. Luckily the template had measurements on it and it turns out the entire template was scaled and off over 3/16" from where it should be (both the one they sent and the PDF printed).

So far I've exchanged a few emails but they haven't offered to do anything for me with respect to the additional holes I put in my drawer due to THEIR negligence in providing an incorrect template.

Just thankful that it is just a drawer and I wasn't cutting or drilling into the body or frame.

So word of advice, if there are measurements on any templates anybody provides, verify the measurements before using the template.

That STINKS to hear.

Other than the issue with the install, how are you liking the push button combo lock and drawer?

I like it much better than the key lock. It's a but bigger due to the mechanical function, but I can reach down blindly and push the buttons by feel without issue.

Thanks for the feedback and heads up on the template. I ordered the drawer and pushbutton combo tonight.

When it come, I will test the template before I drill.

Cheers!

What a PITA! The cam was too big for the drawer, so I had to go at it with a file. Then thanks to your heads up, I made my own template but still had to rig it to get the holes aligned.

At the end of the day, it is so much more functional than anything out there. They really need to make a factory option for the pushbutton combo, or at least provide a legit template.
