Anyone thought of this, done it, or have a reason why it's a bad idea?
Dude on another forum did this recently. Looks good, he didn't say any problems with it yet.

I may do it soon, my grandpa put a bunch of stuff on it a couple weeks ago and scratched it up... I almost cried

Someone in another forum somehow carpeted one of these too, and it looked amazing. Here's a pic (with back seats folded down): Anyone know how this was done? I'm interested because I'd like to be able to remove the top deck when my dogs ride in the Jeep, but I'm worried that the stock steel looks kind of sharp- don't want dogs to get snagged/cut/be very uncomfortable...

I posted this on another thread. Here's a pic of a club, I don't think the clubs in the bag will fit, but the clubs out of the bag may fit.

Thanks for the quick reply! It'll be close... I have no problem taking a club or three out of the bag to get them to fit. It might just work...

Bedlined the Tuffy deck

Finally found an opportunity over Labor day weekend to bedline the deck of my Tuffy. It had quite a few scratches that exposed the bare metal and I was worried about it chipping and getting worse and rusting. Wish I had taken some before photos but I forgot. Here are some after photos.

Really simple process. I washed it with water. Took some light sandpaper and gave it a good once over on the places I planned on lining. Then I rinsed it again and let it dry. Masked it with some painters tape and then painted it with the spray on Rustoleum bedliner. It turns out to have a very fine, sand-paper feel to it. I decided I wont use Rustoleum anywhere else on the jeep, but the texture works well on the Tuffy. I just have to remember and be careful not to scratch the back window when I'm taking it off.

Nice job!

Probably keep things from sliding around on the lid so much, too.

Finished installing mine yesterday.
Added a little silicone spray to are where it slides for a smoother action.

I just pulled the top part out so I can lay down a few coats of plasti-dip in it. That will help protect it from rain and scratches. Pics to come (needed to get the thread bumped so I can find it on my phone).

Thanks everyone on the forum. Just ordered the tuffy enclosure for my two door...... Got it for $201 shipped from Morris 4x4 using the wrangler forum 10% discount. This is just what I wanted. Now I will feel better leaving my work computer in the Jeep, making multiple stops while shopping in my Jeep with the top down, or leaving the side windows from my soft top back there.

Need to stay off the forum, it's costing me too much money. but I enjoy it too much!

Question for anybody with this in a 12 4 door. Does it sit on top of tub rails, where hard top sits? I can't tell for sure from the pictures.

Yes, there is a bracket that sits on top of the hardtop.

Hi. I have a question I haven't seen answered anywhere.

I have a 08 two door. If I remove the top and front of the enclosure leaving the sides in place, can the read seat be put in?

Most of the time, its just me, but a few times per year ( nice summer days with the top off) more than two people will ride with me.

Thanks!

So upon further review, I see that this thread is about the newer 2011+ model...

The older 2008 model will not allow the rest seats to be installed with the side brackets in place.

I would still like to see some pics of the old model installed if any one has any.

Thanks

Will the part of the security deck that goes on the side rail of the jeep fit sandwiched between the hard top and and jeep side? Or do you have to put it on the hard top sides? This seems like it would be a pain every time you take your hard top off.

I have one on my 2010 jku I have both soft and hard top. There is nothing that will get in the way of the hard top. it attaches to the roll bar and floor.

Love mine. I went to homedepot and got a thick out door carpet with rubber on the underside to line the top and got 3m spray glue to make it stick. Worked great and looks good.

It has to go on top of the hard top which means unbolt the two side panels, uninstall the sides, put hard top on and then refit the side panels but you will have to loosen all the other bolts because now the bracket is way higher. Pain in the ass for the 2012+ people. 2011 and before was a different product. I got mine installed and realized what a pain it will be when it comes time to swap tops. Oh and mine had a broken weld on the deck part. Not super stoked about this thing.

That's crazy! How long does it take to take apart the sides? I go from hard top to no top often. This doesn't sound like something I'm going to want to deal with. I just had one delivered, but I'm thinking of sending it back if this is the case. Are you sure it wouldn't work sandwiched in between the two?

Tuffy Secure Deck with Hardtop

I use this deck enclosure with my hard top sitting on top of the deck frame, but had to use some Torx bolts that were longer when used in the holes that go through both the hard top and deck enclosure. I basically took longer bolts combined with some washers (so that the bolts were secure to the decking). It is kind of a pain because the retainer nuts can move when putting the hard top on and getting everything to line up correctly is a booger. I'm currently looking for another fix so I haven't wasted $500. If anyone uses this with their hard top and has discovered a fix...please share!

So what is the consensus on this? Should I wait to install it until I put the soft top on?

Looking to get this for my 2012 JKU

Looking for a review if you installed it yourself; I could have the dealer install it as I am not that mechanically inclined and it mentions something about a T-40 torx tool since I have a hard top.(Dual Top)

I keep my laptop in the trunk along with other gear so I need a lockable area with the soft top.

Let me know what you think about it...thanks
I got it and love it. It's not that hard to install at all. Do it yourself ! Like most your more capable than you think !

New Tuffy Security Deck

So today I was looking to buy one of these decks. It seems the 275 has been discontinued, replaced by this. SKU 326.

https://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-525-...enclosure.aspx

Thoughts?

I was just looking at this one. Looks like the 275 and the 299 got drunk and had a one night stand a few months back. It is priced between the two models as well. I like it but I might wait until someone else pulls the trigger, although I haven't been disappointed in a Tuffy product yet.
