The question really is what options does he already have in the vehicle? Steering wheel controls, Uconnect, Sat radio etc. An aftermarket radio could end up costing as much as the factory radio would especially after having to purchase adaptors for the SW controls, CAN bus adapter etc. Plus as you mentioned, a thief would be more out to break in and steal a new Kenwood, Alpine Pioneer etc than the factory radio. Especially if he has a 2012 vehicle where the new radios are programmed with the VIN# for security.

To me, the benefits of a factory nav are 1) less likely to be stolen 2) covered by insurance (at least mine). If you are installing one I believe there are far superior options that would be cheaper.
