There is almost always a benefit of having a computer control parts of your vehicle.

Hey Cynical, (LOL)

No doubt some bean counter decided this would save money. "Hey, we can save 25 cents by not having an oil pressure gauge". LOL

Just hooked up my Ultra Gauge to the Jeep. No tranny monitoring.

Next time just get a manual transmission. Transmission temperature issue solved.

Just lay some bacon across the top of your transmission before towing. If your mouth starts watering, slow down!

I have a 2012 auto JKU and the Torque app does display the transmisson temperature. You simply have to enable a preloaded custom PID first - sounds a lot harder than it is. It is only a couple taps on the screen. A cheap BT/ODBII adapter, the Torque app and a dash mount for your phone is all you need.

^^^^^ this! x2

Great app, with all kinds of good stuff, for dirt cheap. Blue tooth adapter is less than $10 on ebay.

Got to love the smart phones.

From their website: "UltraGauge currently does not support Manufacturer specific gauges such as Transmission temperature."
