Ugly chrome nerd bars

I want to paint my NERD bars with the Rustoleum bedliner spray paint. Is this possible or will it not stick?? I hate the damn things but my kids and wife need them to get in (it sits pretty high )

Not sure. Maybe sand'em first.

That said, why not just buy some real side steps (Ace's are steel, powdercoated black, and can be had for $300 . . . here's a thread with a bunch of pictures) and sell your nerf bars for $100 or so on Craigslist?

Thanks MTH, that is the EXACT look I was going for, ordering today! I'll put the others on ebay or craigslist then it's like I got the new ones for 1/2 off.

Glad to help.

Keep in mind the steel Ace steps are going to be quite a bit heavier than the plastic nerf bars (as in about 50 pounds each), and as a result the shipping of 100 pounds or so of steel isn't inconsequential--I think it's in the neighborhood of $70 or $80. From what I've heard, KrawlOffRoad (forum vendor) has done the best on shipping.

There are countless other options out there of course, but the Ace rails are generally viewed as among the highest "bang-for-the-buck" available in terms of quality.

They're going to hold up a whole heck of a lot better than the nerf bars, that's for sure . . . .
