Under Seat Lock Box for 2012 JK

Just bought the MicroVault MVP 500 at Gander Mountain. Fits nicely under the seat and has a long steel cable that secures to the seat bars. Its hidden from view, and no one is walking away with this. Now have some piece of mind.

Why would you leave anything ever of value in your jeep though? I've never really seen the need for lock boxes.

Oh I can see the value in this. When I go for a run out at the beach I like to only carry my phone/music device and single key for the car. In the Jeep's case, you could carry the key to this lockbox and a music device and just stash your Jeep keys, wallet, and any other valuable you don't need for a run.

This scenario could work for other activities as well I suppose. Hiking and whatnot. Just my .02.

Unlike the boxes that bolt under your seat the only drawback I see is that a good set of linesman pliers will cut the cable.

I have seen the units like this for use in your closet or home to store fire arms and they have the same hand key pad to gain entry. I think if I were to put something like this in the jeep it would need to be bolted to the floor. Hopefully the thieves don't have a wrench though either.

Do you think a crowbar is enough to pry open a Bestop or Tuffy lockbox? Of course, a good thief would carry a wrench, wirecutters or boltcutters and a crowbar. The Gunvault should be enough for spur of the moment thieves and is hidden from view whereas the lockboxes scream something valuable hidden inside this box. I like the Bestop, but had to settle for the Gunvault NV200 for my 2 dr....
