I have a 2015 Wrangler Unlimited. I recently installed the kicker/mopar speakers in the soundbar and dash. Today, I am having the Alpine Powerpack and Sound Ordnance B-8PTD powered sub installed. I am wondering if people would suggest putting the sub under a front seat or the rear seats? I am curious as to sound and how much its going to vibrate the seat? Thanks
If you put it under the back seats then they won't fold forward as the bottom of the seat falls to the floor when they fold forward. I would put in under the front passenger seat if I were you.
JCDriller did a very clean job on installing under the front seat.
Might be worth looking at his build thread: Bruzer
Starts about post 281. But there is more info on the box he used earlier in his build threaad.
BTW: if you want a way to get addicted to the Jeep, read through some of these build threads... OMG! Just be prepared to be broke for life. lol
Some awesome builds by some very talented people on this forum. :thumb:
Under front seat is preferred. While these powered 8" subs round out a stereo very nicely, they don't have the "BOOM" that your more typical larger sub enclosures have. As you get farther from the driver, they do become less effective. For example, I have the Kicker 8" Hideaway under my driver seat and it sounds great. However, the guy at stereo shop said they put one in the trunk of a sedan and it was hardly noticible.
I have the same exact Sound Ordnance under front passenger seat. I love it. Make sure you zip tie the wire harness under the seat cause if it's directly on the sub it vibrates. Other than that I couldn't be happier!
It's all installed. I had the guy put the sub under the passenger seat and the Alpine powerpack behind the head unit. Apparently he turned the freq on the amp to have no bass, because the kicker speakers sound worse than before the amp. It's super bright and then low end bass. Maybe tomorrow I can pull the H/U out and change the amp freq.
how do you like the Sound Ordnance? Take your time and play with the adjustments. There are 4 and the instruction book will guide you which way to tune them. Makes a big difference.
