Unlimited Altitude Model

I have a Deep Cherry Red 2012 Unlimited. This new model is how I have pictured mine to look someday. Except for the body color bumper appliques. Never thought of that, but it sure looks sharp. Now im thinking I may see about taking my silver ones and getting them painted. I took them off cause I like the all black look better on the bumpers. wonder if anyone else has tried painting them body color.

I would bet that somebody out there has tried it. There aren't many "original" mods that haven't been attempted by some Jeeper or another.

However, the bumper appliques are pretty flimsy...seems to me that if you painted them, the slightest impact, bend or crease would crack the paint.

Your best bet might be to wait till that model comes out and the appliques start showing up on CL, the classifieds here, etc. It's almost certain that someone will spend the extra $$ on an Altitude version, and hate the red appliques.

At that point, you make your move...

Well they are suppose to limit them to around 4500, so unless a lot of people want them off, or put aftermarket bumpers on them, there may not be many for sale. But thats probably a good idea to keep checking around. Maybe even a chance to order them, since you can order the sliver ones.

Photoshopping it on an atoll in front Molokai might be easier than painting the applique if you decide not to go that route.

Just sayin'.

The silver ones may very well be paintable...my theory about the paint cracking on them is just that: a theory.

And I'm not sure if Jeep will actually offer the red ones for sale. Most of the stuff they include on special editions (such as the black wheels that are exactly like all the other Wrangler wheels, except they're black) they either don't sell, or sell for stupendously high prices.
