Unofficial number of 2012 waiters?

So I've been stalking this forum for a while now and I thought I would finally make a post. I'm usually a speed guy. Last car was a 1995 nissan 300zx twin turbo. However I have accepted that I now need a JKU to keep on living. I love wranglers. The end.

I want a jku, but I refuse to buy a 2011 when the 2012's are just around the corner.. I've actually been waiting for a while now come to think about it. Anyway.

Back to the thread question, how many of us are there waiting for the pentastar and 2012 model? This isn't meant to start a war, I know how touchy some people get about this subject, this is just a friendly convo about how many 2012's there will be running around compared to every other jk.

Nice to meet everyone in advance, and "enjoy the ride"

Welcome to the forum!

I'm waiting to order:
2012 JKU Rubicon with:
Freedom Hard Top
Heated Front Seats
Supplemental Front Side Air Bags
Connectivity Group
AC w/ Auto Temp Control
Trailer Tow Group
Media Center 430N
Manual

The only remaining question for me is "Which Color?"

I'm waiting for a 2012 Rubi. I was going to buy a 2011 but with it being so close to the 2012s and the Pentastar, I figured I would wait. The reason I am waiting is I drove a 2009 manual Rubi (back in 2009) and a 2011 automatic Rubi (a few weeks ago), and both seemed a bit underpowered. I really feel that the HP/TQ bump is going to make a world of difference with this vehicle. Not sure if I'm going to be one of the first to order. I may wait until they start showing up on lots and drive both a manual and auto and then decide.

Here's what I want:
2012 JKU Rubicon Unlimited
Probably Automatic (Would like to drive a manual w/the Pentastar)
Probably Natural Green (I like Silver as well but wish they would offer Mineral Gray)
Black Interior with Heated Seats
Connectivity Group
A/C with Temp Control
3 Piece Hard Top
Trailer Tow Group
430N Media Center (I don't think they offer this anymore, If not then the 730N)

I haven't been waiting as long as AgtSunshine, but I have been saving and am anticipating loads of fun with this vehicle!!

Oh, and P.S. Welcome to the forum. As you can see, I'm relatively new myself. I joined as part of my research into the Wrangler to find out the "real deal" from those who own them. Sounds like a great vehicle!!

Thanks for the replies and welcomes!

I was hoping someone else would talk about their options so I could too... I'm going for

2012 sport S unlimited
In black
6 speed manual
Power convenience group
3.73 gears
Dual top group
Traclock
The infinity sound system

And other stuff I can't remember right now... then the modding will begin.

^^Thanks for reminding me, I will probably go with the Power Convenience Group as well (even though it make the doors heavier).

Add me to the list.

I'm on the fence about the Rubicon...On one hand, it would be nice to have the locker stock...On the other, I'd probably never need it since I'm not into climbing on rocks. Mud, roots, and logging trails are more my thing. If I decide to mod it in the future, I'd go with an air locker system and new gears to turn bigger meats anyway.

With that said. I'm probably looking at a

JK Sport S (Or whatever they are going to call the upgraded Sport package)
Freedom Top
6spd Manual
Trailer tow group
Power/Convenience group (Only because I want cruise control, I could care less about power windows)
6spd Manual
Trailer tow group
I'd like a blue color that isn't "baby shower blue" (Am I the only person who really misses the gunmetal color?) but I'd settle for Mango Tango or Rescue Green...In that order.
A/C if it happens to come with it, don't really care to be honest.

I won't be ordering it unless it just becomes a real hassle to find what I want. I'm not looking to pull the trigger until late September anyway.

Thumbs up

I'm a 2012 waiter. I've been looking at Jeeps for about 4 months now and have finally made my decision.

I'm planning on a Rubicon JKU with a hardtop. I'm not picky on the color, but if the rumors are true, I'm fairly disappointed as I didn't see my 3 top choices mentioned.

I'll probably go bare bones and just get the tow package and convenience group (no leather or nav). I'm leaning towards a manual tranny but have never had one. I think it's finally time as I enjoyed the few vehicles friends let me drive with a manual.

Didn't I hear a rumor not too long ago that the factory had been equiped to possibly bedline the tub at the factory?

I've been lurking on a few Wrangler forums for almost a year. I was very close to getting a great deal on a used '09, but passed knowing that the '12's were close to production. Anyways, after much debating, I'll be getting a cosmos blue sport with auto, hard top, and power/convenience group. I'll be putting a teraflex 2.5" coil lift with 35's shortly after taking possession of said Jeep. Keeping it simple because I wont be doing much wheeling besides my yearly hunting trips in the mountains of WV.

I am waiting very impatiently

2012 JKU Sahara
Automatic (this was decided after months of back and forth)
Freedom Hard Top
Heated Front Leather Seats (hopefully black or gray)
Connectivity Group
AC w/ Auto Temp Control
Trailer Tow Group
Media Center 430N
Remote start

Not sure on the color. I love the rescue green, mango tango is a distant second, then maybe natural green. We will see what they come out with.

2012 Wrangler -- Sahara 2 dr
Black exterior/tan leather interior
Basically loaded w/automatic

as far as price right now with the options I want -- $36,315 (probably higher once the 2012 pricing is announced)

Why does everyone want the media center anyways with all it limitations, cost to update, and the fact you have to buy a lockpick to get half to stuff to work after you press the gas. Wouldn't a very good aftermarket be better and cheaper in the long run?

Waiting impatiently.

Rubi 2Dr
Manual
Green
Black Seats

Was going to go Half Doors only but now I think:
Dual Top Group
Power Convenience Group
Full Doors & Half Doors
Connectivity Group
Towing Package
Deep Tint
730N? (looks like no 430N this year, I may skip this and just go after market)
Auto A/C maybe
Side Airbags

My dealer told me that the 430N has been available off and on over the past year. Depends on the projected availablity. If I can't get the 430N, I'm thinking about the Kenwood DNX7180 - Kenwood - DNX7180

I want the Garmin nav. I have some portable ones, but I would prefer to have it in-dash and not displaying the round circle or mounting bracket on the windshield.

Still undecided on the colors, I was really set on the Deep Water Blue (dont' like the Comos Blue at all) or Detanator Yellow.

So what we have like, 9 or 10 now? What's that ratio like? One 2012 wrangler to every one billion other wranglers? We're taking over.

Driving a 2000 TJ now as my DD, but can't wait for a 2012 Rubi. I had to get down to one car so I sold my M Roadster and kept the TJ...just couldn't go through life without a Jeep in the garage.

Unlimited Rubicon
Tan / Soft Top
Six-speed manual
Power Convenience
730N
Heated seats
Tow group
Smokers group
Connectivity group
Auto A/C

This will be my first new car, and it's gotta be a Jeep!

The Garmin 430N base level nav is on order restriction, and will be for quite some time, most likely until the end of this year. The 730N premium nav (RHR) will be the only nav radio offered.

Secretly, I'm wishing it's closer to the original Impact Orange (which better suits my Volunteer pride vs. the Longhorn orange that is Mango Tango)

I am(was) about ready to bite and trade in the '97 TJ for an '11 JKU. Since reading posts about the Pentastar engine I'm now in a holding pattern. The new jeep will not be a DD, my '97 only has 76K on it. That being said, should I bite now or wait? Not gonna lie and please don't hang me, but, I have driven a couple of FJ's and they have alot more get up and go than the JKU. Kind of attracted by their ugliness. Then I go back by the Jeep dealer and feel I've like I've cheated on an old friend. Thanks for any opinions.

I've driven the FJ as well, And even if it has more power, I'm not a fan. I could NOT see out of the thing to park it. Believe me I've driven Many vehicles from bentleys to camaros and trucks and suv's of every kind, But the FJ has the worst blind spots I've ever seen.

If power is what your concerned about, def wait for the 2012 and the pentastar. 80-90 more horsepower is a large improvement.

I've posted a few times but for the most part I have been lurking this forum for the last 18 months. Like the bonehead male that I am, I want the new engine. I also want the nav system so that I can use gps coordinates to find obscure abandoned roads in the sticks of maine.

Its not the first time that I will be the test rat. I bought a toureg the first year they came out. It had all the bells and wistles, locking diffs, adjustable ride height etc.... It was both my best ride and my worst. When it worked it was way better off and on road compared to my pathfinder. It usually didn't work though. I would jump start it half the time. It had a terrible habit of blowing some plug in the block when it was very cold outside. Both times it occured hundreds of miles from home. The new wrangler should not be as much of an experiment though. The motor is being tested now in other vehicles. Still, I obviously did not learn my lesson.

My new rubi unlimited will be modified almost immediately. I plan on a terraflex 3" lift, 35s, new bumper with a winch, and a full roof rack. I want a standard transmission. Hopefully I will not have to change the gearing.

I will be beating the crap out of my jeep. I expect some problems with the jeep, reliability is not its strong point. In the winter, I plan on running snow tires with different rims. Snows are way better in our harsh climate.

I have been surfing the internet a few times a week for any news. Where is corperate espionage when you need it? Still no photos? I have learned in my search that google searches mostly link to bogus sites like autoreleasdate.com that are created to lure any search term to their useless website.

Count me in as a waiter for the new jeep. Its my cross to bear.
