Unpainted aluminum fenders

I decided to forego powdercoating my aluminum PS fenders. I should be getting my jeep back late next week from the body shop (collision fix). I also got a great deal on installation for the flares ($300).

I haven't seen many aluminum flares that aren't powdercoated.

What are your recommendations for cleaning and protection?

If they are raw they will naturally age, if you like the raw look but not the aging you should get them clear coated asap.

Personally, I'd let them age naturally. If you want to clean them up, a 0000 extra fine steel wool will buff them clean again with a light hand, but longer cleaning time. It's not hard to do, just some water and cleaning paste and then working it lightly until it's cleaned evenly over the surface. If you take this on, you may find it's better to settle on aging the bottom and cleaning the top, it takes awhile.

I have thought about putting aluminium flares on a few times and just letting them be, I just don't have the desire to do it yet.

I have raw flares and just wash them like the rest of the jeep. I don't mind how they look with age, still look good just more of a dull than shiny if you can picture that.
How long have you had it?

Thanks guys for the tips. Am I able to use paint products such as wax on the flares?

I was talking with 1 of the guys from Gen Right (they make aluminum fenders, bumpers ect.) during Jeep Beach in Daytona and he said just take some Scotch Bright to them once and awhile to get them looking new. Personally I would have mine coated with Line-X to protect.

I think a brushed aluminum could look nice. Also, you could always plasti-dip yourself.
