Has anyone actually had a "breakdown" from this issue?

I don't know why they bothered with that driver side exhaust loop. ......... to have the pipes equal lengths????? The sensors would take care of the difference! All that loop does is create more heat! I'm seriously considering deleting the loop with an aftemarket y pipe and installing a free flow 3" cat back........... then maybe I'll try a lower octane gas.

I read somewhere the driver's side has the loop so the pipes would be of equal length to maintain consistent exhaust pressure from side to side. Something to do with the variable valve timing.

I suspect if you go with a 3" cat back you will lose some low end power.

Actually with variable timing and o2 sensors, I doubt I will

None that I know of, but the engine set up is different for alternator, oil drain, exhaust. The heads might be different/different design. The Chargers oil caps say 5W-30.

IIRC Dodge said it was like 7,500 Jeeps that might be affected. Sucks as I own a 2012 and assume the sight ticking is normal for Dodge.

Hey all, update....dropped the jeep off seven days ago. Parts, minus head, arrived two days ago. The "latest and greatest head", as the tech put it, should arrive tomorrow. jeep should be driveable by Tuesday next week...

Is there any confirmation on an AD version of the head?

As I understand it from reading this thread, the AD head is for the passenger side.

i don't see why anyone would get a new engine outta this unless there is damage to the lower end. they aren't going to give anything away. here's your new installed head. goodbye. thats about it. be glad they are fixing it at this point. could be worse. hopefully u will be able to enjoy your jeep now. good luck with the install. hopefully u dont have any of those install problems u are worried about.
I'm thinking of just offloading the damn thing and being done with it.

probably for the best, as no vehicle is worth loosing sleep over or causing stress. I swear every vehicle I have owned (well over 20) has had some known issue and I have been lucky and none of the ones I owned actually ended up with a problem.

It took them a week to do mine but its finally done and over with I hope. It was the driver side cylinder head. I don't hear the tick anymore as loud but I think I hear a small one on the passenger side now. Time will tell

I just don't think I would enjoy life nearly as much without my Rubicon though. So I'll probably just end up suffering through.

Hello. Can you film both sides of the engine in the same video? That sounds like the injectors to me and there's no reference point.

ah, much better video, thanks. To be honest, that kinda sounds like mine did when it was delivered with 9 miles on it. Mine became louder at about 1k-2k miles and I eventually had my head replaced at 8k.

You might have a mild tick, or that might just be considered "normal." It depends on whether it gets louder. Can you read the build date on your driver's side head? If you look from the fender, there's a stamp on the bottom of the head just above the exhaust outlet (behind the black steering column). The first line of the stamp is the build date in julian ###2A. That would show whether you have an AB or AC head.

Right on man! I will take a look at that stamp date. However I ordered my JK and it shows a built date of October 2012. I will crawl under my JK and get that info later on today, hopefully....

Thank you very much again....

Still sounds like injectors to me. I wouldn't worry about it. It does not sound like valve tick at all
