Yeah... I'm a damn saint!
I figure its covered under warranty and I love it. So I might as well enjoy it. I have a long way to go on the coverage so I'm not going to worry.

If the julian date doesnt tell me AB or AC how do I figure that part out? Or is the build date more important than it being AB or AC?

The julian date does determine the head. I just don't know the exact dates for each head. But from what other members have said, the AB was used for like a month in late spring/early summer. Your build date is late October. Odds are great you have AC.

Not to be a downer, but some people have had to have a head replaced at ~30k with no ticking symptoms. The CEL just triggers out of nowhere. Yeah, i'm a downer.

Have a 2012 2dr sport with 4000 miles on it, build date of july, CEL just came on. Going into dealer tomorrow morning. So where do you look to find if it has the AA or AB number?

Thanks

Left head number higher than 2062 is good. You should be ok.

But 2111 means jul 30 2011 and the 2062 is mid july 2012, why you think I should be Ok? I am a bit confused and need to confirm that I am good.

Because the head builds starting with a julian build date of 2062 incorporated the AC design. You made it, but barely.

Think of the julian build date for the head as a serial number. All serial numbers 2062 or higher have the AC design.

The 4th digit represent the year right 1 for 2011 and 2 for 2012? If so then 2111 is lower than 2062.. In term of build date.. Thats why I am still confused

The Julian calendar is counting the days. Jan 1 is 001 and Dec 31 is 365 (366 in a leap year)

The last number represents the year, so you are correct, 2011, and it would be an AA head. So head build date of day 211 of year 2011.

I'm pretty sure you have the AA head based on build date of july 2011. Mine was built 24 July 2011 and I have the AA head. No tick yet at 8,000 miles

they are confusing you but you are correct in your thinking. Your heads where made in 2011 not 2012 so you could have a problem but then again maybe not.

pla post or direct me to hear a video for an engine that do not have the ticking noise. I hear louder noise on my left head but I cannot confirm if it is the ticking noise or something else..

If it is a serial number then it make sense that I dont have to worry but if this is really a build date then I may have a problem.. Anyone with head 21x1 with head issue here so we can confirm this?

Thanks

So dealer called today and said it was an issue with the oil sending unit. They need to replace the wiring harness, they think. They should have part Monday, and did not want the jeep being drove until they fixed it. I guess at least it was not the head issues.

2012 2dr sport. 4,000 miles

My CEL came on this week and it is in today for a new head. Cylinder 4, I was told it is primarily the left bank is the culprit.
