I see people talking about "Chrysler Care". I can't find this on their website. I want to "open a case" as people here are saying. Can someone post a direct link for the dumb guy here.

Screwed the pooch ... Really ?... Because I'm not happy with Chrysler selling lemons and actually posting about it ?...they knew about this problem and still didn't pull them off the lots and fix them before people spent almost 40k ... I bought a new vehicle so I wouldn't have these problems .and really pennysman I'm not here to impress any one.just not happy with some of you thinking its okey dokey "they fixed it "... Would you have bought a vehicle knowing it needed a new head?

I take it you were not smart enough to do any research prior to dropping almost 40K. 10 minutes of research should have provided you with enough information that would have prevented you from making such a boneheaded blunder lol.

Well...glad to see that your second post was as enlightened as your first. No...no one is thrilled about the bad head issue...and all here are even less thrilled with Chrysler's (at time) piss poor attitude. But a problem with a new motor...really?...Like THAT never happens in the first year or so of any new production. I'm not here to argue the merits of whether or not it should have happened...it clearly should not have...but your post was nothing but venom......lighten up. If people want that kind of crap, (and trust me they do not) they'll go elsewhere. Suggest you quit this rant now while you are behind.

Yes.

Usually, they are very helpful. If you get a bad one, just hang up and call again! They can make a reluctant dealer sit up and take notice of your problem in a big hurry!

Actually I have no prob with my dealer. They say Chrysler won't let them touch it till there's a CEL. Don't know who to believe.

They don't advertise the phone number anywhere. Only given out by the dealership. 800-247-9753

Go to Chrysler - Contact Us. From there their is a customer service link with email or phone numbers. I had a case and found them to be very helpful and they even paid me for the time the Jeep was in the dealership.

When this issue is all said and done Chrysler will have paid far more to fix the problem than to prevent it, (possibly) which leads me to believe that they were and are chasing the problem. Relax you goof

It all depends on your dealer. The way dealers are getting by with no CEL activation is that they are stating in their documentation that the CEL came on previously. A good dealer that has dealt with this issue several times knows that the reset of the CEL is pure BS. They know the end result is a change to the new head design.

I just got the pictures of my old head. They swapped out the driver side for the new one. Can't pick it up til Friday cause I'm at Disney World on vacation. I will give another update after I pick it up. It only took them a couple of days to get it done. One pic is the top of the head the other is the bottom of it.

I called customer care at the numbers provided in this post and within a few minutes they were calling the dealer and telling me I had a rental car for free from Enterprise. So, I would suggest calling if your dealer doesn't give you a vehicle.

My check engine light just turned on... 25,000 miles.

What should I be ready to deal with?... Are they going to ask for oil change records. Are oil filter from the dealership enough?

I'd have my proof of oil changes handy, but honestly I don't recall reading about anyone having to show proof of service. This problem is well known, and is not an oil related issue. Good luck.

When I had issues with my last JK they did not require anything at all. I took it in and they broke the news to me that the drivers side head needed to be replaced. They left me stranded at the dealership with no rental or even a shuttle ride home.

Once I got home I looked into the buy back and lemon law process and got the ball rolling.

Hello all, I've been following this thread and am concerned... I bought a 2013 JKUR with a build date of July 2012. I get a ton of clatter apon start up. I have 9700 miles. I was looking under the wiring on the drivers side head and it reads:

1962B
00450
001000

If someone can give me a little guidance own how to read that it would make my day. I started getting 17 mpg when I first got it but then it has slowly been dropping. I spoke to the dealership a little and they told me winter time gas is usually mixed differently and it should get better in the summer, it has not. I see a lot of people posting the numbers above with no answers (unless I'm missing them). If its a Julian date, can it be read as manufactured the 196th day of 2012? Which would be a June day? The "B" is throwing me... Do I have the "B" head? Some help would be nice and thanks

I have a 2013 JKR and also have a "tick" on the drivers side - build date July 2012. Currently at 6003 miles and took the jeep to the dealer for a few warranty repairs and mentioned the ticking to the service writer. He did not say anything except we will look at it.
My drivers side head has the following numbers.

2032B
00450
001000

Did is miss the head update by three days?

I had a head replaced still have a tick. I also had other major mechanical issues. I pursued the lemon law and will be surrendering my vehicle. It's funny chrysler wants me to surrender the vehicle and they will send me the check over night.
I refused, I want an even swap.

Things can get real bad before a CEL comes on, The bearings went in my last subaru at 1,700 miles, the engine sounded like a jack hammer. No CEL - but the first thing the dealer asked was "did the CEL come on?"

This was a 2009 Forester XT - first year with a revised engine manufacturing technique (new silver bearings) (though same essential engine as the outgoing model) - the first year of the redesign also. This was a problem that plagued thousands of engines.

After that I made a vow never to buy a first year redesign, or first year engine ever again. The people that put them together don't know what they are doing well enough yet, and the machines that put them together have not been refined enough yet. Problems just waiting to happen down the line.

I have a build date of 6-13 on my JKU, so hopefully they figured out all of the pentastar problems, and any others by now.

Full purchase price. But I do not trust the will overnight the check once I surrender the car.

I want an even exchange.

Lot was wrong. It was in the shop for a total of 60 days.
