Is this possible? Saw a couple threads of people buying replacement auto units on mopar for around $100. Any threads showing how to do this or what specific parts / sensors I need?
I went with the manual system because I was told the blend doors were different... Not electrically operated, but I found out they are the same. The whole system is the same manual or auto except the control portion. Control in the broader sense, not the physical controls.
I had it in my 15 Rubicon, but my 16 Hard Rock doesn't have it. I do miss it because I just kept it set at 75 degrees all the time.
My wife would always mess with the controls as soon as she got in the car. It's seams she has to have the HVAC fan set on high regardless of outside temperatures.
My wife used to do that too...it took her around 5 years to stop. It drop me NUTS!
The auto temperature control was a requirement for my 2017 hard rock purchase. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it also came with automatic headlight controls as well (I didn't know this was available on JKU's).
I had it in my Avenger and liked it. I actually miss it in my Jeep. I might order the part and just try it for myself. The only thing is I don't feel like messing with my working heat at the start of winter!
I have done 3 JKUs in the past year or so including mine... its do-able.
I done a write about the mod including part numbers and hopefully enough details to
help you boys along... Its in pdf format...
it really isn't that hard.. you still have to change out the sensor that controls auto lights--center dash by windshield... add the cabin sensor, wire those two to the plug going to the new auto heat control... I am just north of Boston Mass and my services are available-- free of course
I hate the auto temp control.......thus why I didn't order it. The worst is getting in you Jeep on a chilly day but the cabin is warm from the sun and the air kicks on. I'll pass.
Honest question (no hidden agenda) What is/are the major advantages of the Auto climate control?
I'm trying to come up with one. If I'm hot or cold I just turn the dial now and I do switch where the air is going along with vent angles AND having remote start I notice the HVAC does it's own thing now anyway (turns heat and fan on etc)
So, back to the question - What are the advantages of having it Auto controlled?
Another advantage is that with remote start and the module on auto it will kick the heat or AC on high automatically. I have a manual now and hate when I forget to turn the heat on high before I get out. I remote start it come out 15 minutes later to a still cold car. Sure the heats warm then but the whole car could have been toasty.
I've had auto before. I didn't order it on my jeep because it's a waste of time.
