upgrade time

I plan on installing a set of 18 front springs, teraflex quick discos up front and a teraflex spring locator .5" spacer in the rear with Rubi shocks. I'm currently sitting on 14/56's on my 2dr. My math indicates I should achieve level +.5" all around. I got a set of 17" Black Rock D windows I will get rubber for pending my outcome with my tax guy. Planning on 33's. If this doesn't come out as I plan, I will order 60's and front spacers....... or fenders. I will update you guys with some pics later this week but I took some before measurements. The biggest thing is to level it and get rid of the rake.

Well everything went on smooth as butter. Pulled into the shop 8:15 was cleaned up and In the Starbucks drive through by 10:30. The only issue I had was with the Teraflex quick discos. The tube cross member in the front of the frame contacts the swaybar when I tried to put it up. Ground probably 1/16" off both sides and painted it. No problem.

The teraflex rear .5" spacer in the rear was easy to put in. I lubed the tit up with a bunch of silicone and it popped in. I loosened the wheelspeed sensor wiring from the frame, two 10mm for the parking brake and a 10mm for each rear brake line. The axle went right down and I could wiggle out the spring. I got the .5" in the rear I was looking for. Make sure to put the factory mopar spring pad OVER the spacer.

Front was just as easy. I did one side at a time by dropping the shock. I took out the 10mm on the frame for the brake lines. Got plenty of droop with the shock and sway bar disconnected. Put in the springs no problem. Front 18's going from 14's netted me about 2.0"

Rubi shock install was easy. I say the plastic support above the pass shock is kind of a pain. But I had a thin 16mm and was able to get it on and hold the nut, then rotate the shock top to tighten.

Only thing limiting my down travel now is the shocks so I may get longer ones or extensions and longer brake lines. The shock length at full extension is identical to my stock black Sport shocks.

Ride is great. Not harsh but slightly firmer and more compliant with the shocks. My wheel does seem to be slightly off center to the left with a slight pull to right. My axles appear to be centered though. It may have done this before and I'm just noticing it and hyper sensitive of it at the moment.

Up next is tires. 285/70/17 on the aluminum Black Rock D's but here is a pic for now.

So my 285/70/17 Durtracs showed up today. Long story short I went to Jeep and found new rubber valvestems for the tpms system are $20 each my cost...... f*ck me. Our metal bmw ones are like $12. All for a little brass tit for a sensor. Pass. I decided I would pop the beads and take the valve stem out when I pull the sensors and stick regular $1 stems in my OEM's to fill them back up.

I decide that I will check my wheels before I go to all this trouble and test fit the Black Rocks. Pullone OEM wheel and chuck the black rock up. Low and behold..... I need a hubcentric ring. Well wheels didn't get done today.

My VDP stubby caps came in too. This was easy. Measure twice, cut once, punch some holes and push rivet. After doing this I wasn't real happy with the look of the lower splash guard (I won't call it a skid plate) but didn't want to leave my steering dampner and bar completely exposed (not that the plastic would do anything but deflect sticks and mud) I trimmed a few inches off each side. Done.

Got home and found my 13" Antenna X rubber stubby showed up along with my matte black "Jeep" emblem. So I installed the antenna and took off the chrome Jeep badge which is now on the garage box, and Installed the matte emblem. I only took pics at th shop but will get pics of the front when I get some of the tires/wheels. Recpetion with the antenna? Meh i think its the same. I listen to Sirius and haven't touched FM in months but like the look and that it isn't smacking around in trees.

It also got a wash yesterday and half a bottle of "Back to Black".
