USB Port In Center Console

Has anyone tried to connect any iPhone to the radio using the USB Port in the center console? I can get an iPod to connect but an iPhone 3 or iPhone 4 gets an error connecting. The manual says that it is compatible with some iPhones and gives you a link to check but the link is not setup.

I have a Wrangler 2011 with the Media Center 130 Radio.

I believe the USB port will only function as a charger for the iPhone/iPod. When using a memory stick, the audio files need to be in either MP3 or WAV format.

I stream music from my iPod (Classic, 80GB) through the USB port in the center console, and the only trouble that gives me is some occasional static. I haven't tried it with the iPhone though, but I'll try it after work and see if I can do it.

I haven't tried a USB stick yet, either. But it should work in theory.

Yeah, my iPhone 4 doesn't work most if the time. The Bluetooth streaming doesn't work either on it. It does work on my iPod though.

The Bluetooth streaming works for me on the iPhone 4, as long as the phone is locked. Once you try to do anything on it, the music gets all choppy.

Works for me.. Again I believe you need the Connectivity package for it to be connected to the radio, I remember reading that somewhere..

Check the compatibilty sheet, a lot of ipods and iphones aren't listed as "fully compatible" (the iphone4 is not, I believe).

Where did you find the compatibility sheet? The owners manuals points to a Jeep website that does not list the Wrangler.

Iphone 4

Mine did not work the first few times I tried in on my 2011, but then it just started to work without the tunes being choppy or too fast. Now everything works fine, only thing I can think of is I updated my phone on Itunes and then it worked. I dont think that was it but thats when it started working right. Now if i could just get the voice text messenging to work that would be great.

Why can't I take my hard drive that has all my MP3 music on it which is USB, and plug it into the usb slot in the console? Why wont it recognize it? It recognizes flash drives, but not hard drives?

USB Port in Center Console

Silly question, but is the USB port in the radio or located somewhere else in the center consule? I know that I have one in the radio but it sounds like there should be another in the consule.
Also I have a 2011 that will not play or download any music from my Ipod...I previously had a 2008 that worked great...maybe I should have kept that one

If you want to transfer music to your HDD you can't use the center console USB. You must use the USB on the Radio itself.

The center console USB plays Ipods with no problem but is sketchy with Iphones. Sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. Mine might work on Monday but not on Tuesday and so on. Very frustrating.

The BT streaming sounds like crap. Very tinny and def not high quality audio.

Hi
Im new here and loving it. Anyway I found the USB port doesn't work for my iphone 4 but the bluetooth does as long as you lock the phone. Also another cool thing is you can use Pandora through the bluetooth.

There's a new version of the compatibility guide, but it seems to focus just on Bluetooth streaming. I'm definitely curious about using 130 radio with the 'remote' USB port (center console) for music playback with an iPhone.

My droid incerdible works. I can play music off it and I can answer it talk and listen on the phone through that port. This is through the AUX port on the factory stereo.

Ok, please indulge my ignorance...should EVERY 2011 Jeep with a NAV radio have the usb port in the center console, or do you have to have UConnect to get the usb port??

I am pretty certain you only get the USB port if you have the "Connectivity Group" package.

The 'RemoteUSB' port works - with a little tinkering - in my 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with the iPhone 3GS

Plug in your iPhone cable to the USB Port
Plug in your iPhone to the other end
Push 'Disc/Aux' on the dashboard
It will saic OCI Reading or something
Let it do it's thing (a minute or two)
If all is well, it will show a track list alphabetical of the songs. use the right button to scroll menus between songs/artists/albums/playlist. Push in to select

This works 50% of the time. The other 50% it says 'OCI Reading... then OCI Error Occured'. When this happens, unplug, plug it back in, wait and eventually it will go. Once its playing it sounds great and doesnt skip, no static, etc.

Is the USB Connect new in the 2011 Wranglers? My husband loves my wrangler so much he wants to get one but not a 2011, an older one. Couldn't find an answer.

The USB connector for the iPod hook up is available on the 2010 - 2011 Chrysler Dealer Connect system ( this is their technical website that the techs use for diagnostics, schematics, TSBs etc) This SW update will take care of the "error occurred" and the choppy audio that you are getting when you are streaming audio. You may have noticed that the streaming audio is fine until you wake up the iPhone or iPod touch. When the display back lighting comes on the audio becomes choppy until the lighting goes off.
