USB problem

I have a 2011 JKU Sport S. So I got in my Jeep and when I tried to play my iPod through the USB (like I always do) but now nothing happens. The iPod is working so I don't know what the problem is. I tried replugging it but nothing. Any ideas?

Every so often mine won't be recognized, when that happens I disconnect it, turn off the iPod, and plug it back in. That will get it working again.

There was one time recently where my iPod actually locked up completely and didn't respond to any button presses or reset attempts. I had to disconnect it and let the battery run down until it shut off on its own, then plugged it into a wall charger to let it reboot.

So my voice controls and hands free controls stopped working also, solution is very simple just disconnect then reconnect the battery. No more problem

I had the voice controls and hands free controls lock up on me last night as well, except I was trying to pair to the bluetooth with my Android phone. I thought it might be my phone's BT not making happy, but it looks like I can't exactly rule out the uconnect yet, either.

Hey thanks for your posts. Stupid hands free controls stopped working yesterday. Was looking for a solution without going to the dealer.

Wheel Controls

Hi all,

I hope this helps for you, did for me. I got my new '11 JK on Unlimited Sport S on 9/9 and and a week later my steering controls failed. I did a search on WF putting in "steering wheel controls".

I then read that honking the horn 3 times solves this issue. I said to myself, "Yeah, right!" Well I had nothing to lose except a trip to the dealer. The result...It worked for me. Can't hurt to try.

Also I have had trouble with my IPOD as well and my .02 is that it is Steve Jobs and his lack of wanting to play with anything not made/approved by Apple, and not a problem with the Jeep.

Good Luck!!

I agree 100%.
The Apple folks are information/control Nazis.
I have an iPod Classic and an iPad2. It is their way or the highway. It limits the usefulness of their products and I am getting tired of it!

I have a 2012 JK Sahara with UConnect. I pair my iPhone4 via BT as well. I find that when I connect my phone via the USB port that I have to do some 'finagling' to play my music via USB.

When I connect via USB and select that as my source on the radio I don't hear anything. I need to select BT as the source then I hear my music. I go onto my phone and change the source from UConnect to Dock Connection (or something like that). I then change the source on the radio back to USB and everything works great (including voice commands).

Sounds cumbersome but it only takes a minute.

I have to disagree here. My iPhone4 works perfectly with my wife's Sonata Bluetooth and steering wheel controls. Also works perfectly with Ford Sync. UConnect is very iffy. So how is this Apple's fault? The issue is with UConnect which Apple does not make. If other manufacturers have no problem then Jeep needs to get it's sh*t together.

No longer CEO but still head of the board. Maybe with all his free time he will start wheeling.
