Used Parts Market

Do people really get the prices they are asking for used parts? I have looked on this site and others and it seems like the price for used parts is in my opinion a little ridiculous.

I mean why would someone buy something that has been on a Jeep for 6 months for $20 less that it costs full retail? I ran in to this last week, saw a part I wanted but I could get it from Quadratec with free shipping and no tax for only $20 more.

There are some deals out there but it seems to me for the most part the used prices seem high. Am I the one that is crazy?

No you aren't. I see the same thing.

I think guys are trying to recover all they can from their purchase but they should do some research first.

If you notice the items that are priced high need to bumped several time to adjust pricing. I think it's just difficult in general to find the right price for those that do want to recoup as much of the original investment as possible.

Also other items like take offs highly dependent on the parts. Consider stock tires, takeoffs from a Sport may only be worth $40-50 each while KM2s from a 10A will be much closer to the new price.

Pricing in Florida is generally lower I think. I sold my take off bumpers with hooks, all 4 flares, splash guard and the little trim piece between the front bumper and the body for $125 on craigslist. But my wife took my wheels so I sold hers and got $600. They were the factory black ones with standard tires and had 6K miles on them so I was happy with that. The guy that bought another part off me has been trying to sell his stock wheels and tires for $25 each with no luck. I told him to paint them black.

Edit: Oh and a guy called to see what I wanted for the rubi shocks and I said $100 and he said ok thanks. I guess that is overpriced.
