I am thinking about pulling the trigger on the VDP stubby bumper end cap mod. Does anyone have experience with this? I like the way it looks, but I am concerned about the push pin connectors and the plastic on the new end caps matching the plastic on the stock bumper. Any experiences or pics would be much appreciated. Thanks!

This is awesome, guys! Thanks for the help and the encouragement. Old_Syko - your rig is incredible! Well done.

Have a great night and thanks again!

Here's another photo you can mull over. Stock bumper with the VDP end caps, Maximus-3 bar and a Mopar skid.

I actually found the bumper on Craigslist for free. It has a few dings and one end (which I cut off) had a dimple. My original unmodified bumper is stored away in case I ever want it for some reason.

pwain - i am thinking of getting the stubby end caps as well. My question though, is that I have the same light bar (not yet installed) and have been thinking that I would like to install a couple square LEDs on the underside of the bar like you have. Any tips or tricks do doing the underneath light install? Yours is one of the very few pics I've seen with this. Thanks!

I did it also, BUT I cut another 1.75" off the VDP caps (just enough to get rid of all the pin holes and ugly pins on the front of the cap) and then I used epoxy and 2 pins on each side to hold it on.

I like the shorter length better, that's what I was going for. Didn't affect the crush cans, or the nuts in the plastic bumper cover that holds it to the steel bumper.

Nice work on hiding the winch in the stock bumper :) I did this mod as well.. Mine is totally hidden though and have an electronic solenoid that disengaged the clutch lever so I can unspool the rope. Love it.. I am either getting the VDP end caps or I am going to plastic weld the ends to stubby the bumper

The first mod I ever did on a JKU was the evening I took it home from the dealer back in 2011. Sawzall'd the front bumper while my gf shook her head.

P.S. "5 minute job" is either sarcasm or someone who has no sense of time. You can, however, get this done in less than 30 minutes.

I got the Rough Country equivalent caps. Fit and look great, but, this week i noticed the passenger side cap was gone! The top and bottom pins were sheared off. I have no idea how this would happen. The stubs of the pins were still on the top, fronts gone. I would have had to bury the front of the jeep into an ice bank, which i didnt, in order to push or pull it off. I am now thinking it may have been vandalized. I got a replacement from RC, now i am in the process of bolting them on with 1/4 inch bolts all around, no more plastic pins!

What bolts are you using ADKrubicon? I'd love to see it when you are done. My kit arrives Tuesday.

Bolted on

I bolted the Rough Country caps on using (for each side) 2 x 2.5"x1/4 bolts for the fronts, a 1.5"x1/4 for the top front, and a 1"x 1/4 for the top back hole, all with washers on each side and nylock bolts. I kept the plastic pins in the bottoms. All but the top-rear bolt are through the bumper steel and very solid. If either of these get ripped off now I will have more to worry about than bumper caps. I sprayed some flat black krylon over them as a stop gap, looks like sh** I know, when spring arrives in the northeast sometime in July I will redo those. Bolts would not look ok on anything but a Jeep. I like my Jeep.
