I asked Jeep CS to give me a break down of what everything means but she said the information is unavailable but I can figure outsome based on my build. If anyone wants to add their build we may be able to figure the codes out.

Below are the first eleven digits of my VIN and what I think there are.

Position * Interpretation * Code=Description
1-------------- Country of Origin -------1 = USA
2 --------------Make -----------------------C = Jeep
3 -------------Vehicle Type --------------4= ?
4 -----------Car restaint system-------B = No side air bags
5 -------------Vehicle Line---------------J= Left hand Drive(4x4)
6 -----------Vehicle Series------------- W = Rubicon?
7 ---------------Body Style-------------- C = 2Dr
8 ----------------Engine------------------- G = 3.6L
9 ---------------Check Digit-------------- X
10---------------Model Year------------- C = 2012
11------------Assembly Plant---------- L = Todelo - South Assembly
12-17--------Serial Number-------------last Six Digits

I'm guessing on some of the items and others I have no clue.

I working on a better way-but through Chrysler's StarParts system-with the last nine digits of your vin-I can get an exploded view of all your trim codes (builds and all).
Only problem I'm having is you can't print or cut copy and paste it very easily. Once I work that out-I'll post up if anyone wants what the orig options were from the factory.

ndrugby worked this out for the 2012s a while back. The only thing not certain is the 4th character. For the Jeep, it is probably GVW, but I really don't know.

1 -- Country ------------- 1=USA
2 -- Manufacturer ------- C = Chrysler
3 -- Vehicle Type -------- 4= MPV (Multipurpose Vehicle)
4 -- GVW or Airbags ----- A = No Side (Sport/Sahara)
................................... B = No Side (Rubi & Unlimited)
................................... G = Yes Side (Sport/Sahara)
................................... H = Yes Side (Rubi & Unlimited)
5 -- Brand ---------------- J = Jeep
6 -- Model ---------------- W = Wrangler
7 -- Style ----------------- A = Sport
................................... B = Sahara
................................... C = Rubicon
................................... D = Unlimited Sport
................................... E = Unlimited Sahara
................................... F = Unlimited Rubicon
8 -- Engine --------------- G = Pentastar 3.6L V6
9 -- Check Digit ---------- x
10 - Year ----------------- C = 2012
11 - Factory -------------- L = Toledo
12 – 17 - Unique Identifier -- xxxxxx
