Most of us who order had to put down a deposit when we ordered. That's all we pay upfront. Some dealers may offer to refund you that deposit if you change your mind, but you won't be obligated to pay for the Jeep.

Depends on the dealer and the options on the order.

If you order options that the dealer would have picked for a "lot" order....the dealer may be willing to order two different colors..or they may be fine letting you order a different color if you don't like dune. You might not even need a deposit...or at least will be able to get it back.

But if you order something with a manual and half doors....you will probably need a deposit and you may not get it back if you don't buy the Jeep (because they might not be able to sell it).

Here is what I'm looking to order...

Sport S in Billet or Dune
-manual transmission (never owned an AT vehicle and cannot see myself driving an AT Jeep)
-hard top
-3.73 gears
-anti-spin diff
-power convenience

Personally I don't think they would have a hard time selling a JK with those specs. But then again...I don't own a dealership, so I wouldn't know.

I will make a sacrifice to the Jeep Gods if we can see it a little earlier. Pat never said if the 12/06 date was pushed back, when it was pushed back to. Mid December? After 01/01?

I have a $500 bonus cash voucher that expires on 1/31, and it's burning a hole in my hand.

I requested a brochure from jeep.com. Hopefully it'll come with a $500 voucher that I'll be able to use.

I've wondered the same thing and searched around. I think that you can bail on your order if it doesn't fulfill your expectations or you change your mind but there maybe a penalty to pay? I'm not sure don't quote me, research it and maybe ask your dealer specifically on their policy. Also PM Pat he's a wealth of knowledge and a nice guy.

If Jeep came out with a flat Black, flat OD Green and flat Desert Tan painted in a rough out CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) paint like the military uses they sell them all before they hit the lot. The paint wears like iron and barely shows dirt.

Any Idea on how far it has been pushed back?

I made the mistake of ordering commando green sight unseen and cancelled 10 seconds after I saw it in person. The dealer was nice enough to allow me to refuse and said they would simply place the refused Jeep in their inventory....it sold three days later.

I was not refunded my 500 dollars and honestly it was not the dealers fault I did not like the color so I understood. I was allowed to use the 500 dollars on a second order of a different color. I have not ordered again as of yet as I do not want to do so until I can see an actual real photo of Dune....or maybe even Anvil.

My 500 dollars has been at the dealer for about a month now and I am not sure what I am going to do. In a way I am a little frustrated that Jeep does not supply customers with an actual photo of new colors. There is no logical reason I can imagine that they do not have samples of Dune already finished and as such could take a single damn photo and let us see for sure.

I am tempted to wait for the 2014 models just to have a few more choices however I am not sure how the dealer would handle that request. I planned to go with a known color such as True Blue or Deep Cherry however again if I wait to see the new colors in person the other colors will be past their production date and I would miss the chance.

I was hoping an employee could snap a few pics on the production line like was done with commando on a thread here. I have searched everywhere and find zero pics of dune other than that sand trooper prototype at SEMA. That was a matte finish and will almost surely not be offered on the production Wrangler so back to knowing nothing.....I really hate Jeeps way of offering new colors.

It would cost a bloody fortune and the EPA won't allow it. The DoD is having to go to CARC II with lower VOCs and more environmentally acceptable. Good luck on finding any viable original CARC paints now.

Here is a close substitute:

I say go with the known colors, the ones you have seen. As you said, you wait and you missed the production window. I waited, and I missed Dozer and Crush. Went with DCR. Enjoy your Jeep now

wrz0170 I think your advice is the best option honestly however this will be the most I have spent on anything (in my 44 yrs) other than my house. I really would hate to jump the gun and later see something I really wanted that I could have had if I waited a few weeks.

Of course I should really be thankful I can afford a 38k vehicle rather than moaning and crying about a color.

To keep on topic of this thread I do know I simply must have the saddle interior and tan leather seats. I really do not think Dune will look good with this combination as it wil be way too much tan for me. Maybe the black leather would look better with dune but again black leather looks weird to me with the saddle tan interior.

If I could just get a photo of the true color on a Wrangler it would be so much easier. For the life of me I can not see why Jeep keeps this such a secret until they hit dealers lots. Maybe this weird release method makes the resale higher due to limiting colors as I was shocked to see that Jeeps hold their value better than my loved Toyotas.....who would have thought that?

I'm willing to bet there will be one at the L.A. Auto Show that starts on Friday.

I'm in the same boat as you, robo, although I'm slightly younger.

I've been on the fence for almost 6 months. Hearing your experience with CG makes me all the more wary, but after waiting this long, I don't think another month will kill me. Festina lente

Let's keep this thread near the top, hopefully someone will have mercy on our poor souls and post a pic, a release date, or other such goodies.

Would that even help? The pics aren't always true to the color in-person. You experienced that with Commando, no?

That's really hot lookin'! Love that Jeep!

I'm not sure how different people are expecting Dune to look over the matte version at SEMA. It might look shinier, but I'm pretty sure that's an otherwise accurate representation of the color.

Which is why I'm waiting to see it in person. There's too many variables like the camera taking the pic, lighting, the monitor you're viewing it on, etc.

When I first saw CG in the "CG Picture" thread, each picture of CG looked different.

Dune will be just like that imo. One angle it will look yellow, the next orange and in direct sunlight it will look like a slice of Jif. Only color that will tempt me to trade is if they bring back tan.

Here's a quote from Pat from another thread here on the forum....

"For Dune, I have heard 2 different dates. Most recent I have heard is December, the other is Jan or Feb, can't remember.

Once I know for sure I will post it right away" That was from 11/13 I believe

I've heard that it's January for order/production start and February deliveries, again I'm not positive just sharing my 2 cents. Maybe Pat will chime in here....

I would love to know if its next month for ordering... I have a dealer who really wants to sell me a 2012 White with my exact configuration but I am holding out for Dune.

I looked back thru some emails and according to my source Dune won't be available for order until at least January. That's how it was worded, but that email was from the end of October. Waiting for an answer right now.
