You said in the "colors" thread that you love Sahara Tan. What didn't you like about Dune?

Thank you for the input.

After hearing how some thought the CG was too light, I would definately want to see in person before ordering.

Just heard there is a possibility of Dune opening in January for February production. I won't know for sure until Monday.

If you could also ask how long it will be available, that would be great. Thanks a lot Pat!

Please bring us good news Pat....please. I placed an order for Billet on Friday because I didn't want to wait until April or May to receive my Jeep. But if it does indeed open up in January then I'll call my dealer and cancel the Billet order and hold off for a couple weeks. Plus it'll give me more time to save up a decent down payment.

That would be great if it open in January, I'm right on the verge of ordering and trying to decide between Dune and Billet. On a side note how long does it usually take to get a tread lightly packet?

I read somewhere they only do Tread Lightly mailings on Fridays. Sorry that's the only info I have.

It's looking good for ordering to start in January though I have not received a confirmation. worse case is I'll know on the 19th.

Awesome, thanks, Pat! If true, I'm still torn between waiting to see it in person, or using my $500 bonus cash (expires 1/31).

Worst case is you'll know on Wednesday? That's not bad. From your experience can an order be easily cancelled 5 days after being placed? I put down a deposit but the dealer said that because of my order it would be refundable if I couldn't take delivery. So I guess it doesn't really matter if they can cancel it or not.

Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it there. This color is awesome. So glad I have waited to buy. Just the perfect color to hide all the dirt that falls from the sky when it rains here! I just wonder when it will be available to order.

I hope it looks better in person, IMO, that picture it looks awful. Not even close to Sahara tan. Found a picture of ST like the one above....

I don't like that particular picture at all....too much peach/peanut butter. But like so many other colors...without seeing it in person, it is hard to form a true opinion.

The pics of the matte Dune looked really good...so who knows....

That's not a real picture anyway. It's a photoshop. Remember the uproar of when Jeep had Commando "pictures" on their site? The JK color looked nothing like the JKU color, and neither looked like the actual color. I wouldn't put much faith in that rendering.

I'm not sure where people are getting the idea it was supposed to look like Sahara Tan. Dune always had more of an orange color to it since the paint chip pdf was released.

ST and Dune are night and day different. Think peanut butter and you have an idea of dune.

Here's a pic I snapped of our ST JKU last winter, and it just now got me to thinkin'. Wouldn't it be funny if Jeep simply grabbed the idea for Dune straight from the Sahara's sand dune decal color. It appears to be very similar. Has Dune been right under our noses this whole time?

That would be pretty cool, good eye!

I'm not sure why everbody is so sure in their analysis of the color. "Too much peach/orange"....."looks like peanut butter", "looks awful!"...etc.

All we have are pics of a "Matte Dune" concept jeep (and the final is likely to not be matte), and a color representation from Jeep.

Have you seen their representations of CG?

Here's a current one for a CG Jeep in transit:

New 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport For Sale in St. Louis, MO | | Serving Glendale, Belleville, St. Charles and St. Louis

Yeah, not really accurate. Here's a pic from "build and price" on the Jeep website:

Now compare to actual pics: from the CG thread:

These pics, mock ups, etc, are all over the map. Even different monitors will have the colors show differently. It's all conjecture at this point.

I'm considering Dune, but also CG or Billet as a backup.

Either way, I'm waiting to see Dune in person before making this decision.

It's hard not to think about Peanut Butter.

But, Coyote Brown is kinda Peanut Buttery. I've always liked this color of military browns...

As of right now Dune will open in January but it might be toward the end of the allocation period. January allocation period is 01/08-01/15
