Waiting for Dune

Hey, everyone. I gotta tell ya, if 'Dune' looks anything like this then I'm pulling the trigger and ordering as soon as it opens. That's BA

I'm just trying to decide between ordering Billet, waiting to see Dune, or finding a Crush with my options (since I can't order that anymore).

So, how many of you guys are dying to find out what 'Dune' looks like before you order??

Picture from 2013 accessories catalog. Dune with Sahara wheels that have darker center. It's hard to tell with pic but its a peach looking color.

Dune looks awful in that pic. A mix of peanut butter and gold.

We can only hope. Personally I think all of the military-type colors would look great in matte ie commando green, dune, anvil (if it's the Navy gray that I'm thinking of), and possibly even billet.

I'm pretty sure the SEMA one was the Dune color that will be in production. But, even if this is matte, and Dune won't be... I don't think the color will be much different. I'm sure it'll just have a clear coat added. I don't think it's metallic or pearl.

I wish some of these colors like Dune were metallics. My '99 was Desert Sand, which was a great color since it was metallic. I miss that color (and the Jeep) and wish you could get it now.

I'm in the market for a 2013 and I've been following and collecting all info and images of Dune myself, I can't wait to see it in person! The SEMA pics are deceiving because of the way the fluorescent lights change the color at different angles, it's like my friends Commando, you can walk around that thing in a parking spot and you can see a dozen different shades of green. I think Dune is going to be the same way...

Dune is allegedely going into production on 12/06 if I read the 2013 JK thread correctly? At the rate my dealerships are dragging their feet, I may wait as I was going to go DCR. 2 weeks away. If it is not on the lot, mine don't seem to care.

Yeah, 12/6 is when it was originally--from what I've been reading--supposed to go into production. But if that was case then I think we would've been able to place orders for it already.

My guess is that you won't see Dune on the lots until late January. Once production starts, it will take a couple of weeks for them to hit dealer lots....but someone may be able get a picture of Dune earlier at the Jeep holding lot.

I will make a sacrifice to the Jeep Gods if we can see it a little earlier. Pat never said if the 12/06 date was pushed back, when it was pushed back to. Mid December? After 01/01?

I have a $500 bonus cash voucher that expires on 1/31, and it's burning a hole in my hand.

Say someone placed an order for a Dune Wrangler when the order banks first opened up. If the color turns out to be crappy then could that person place an order for a different colored Wrangler with no obligation to pay for the first one?

Depends on the dealer and the options on the order.

If you order options that the dealer would have picked for a "lot" order....the dealer may be willing to order two different colors..or they may be fine letting you order a different color if you don't like dune. You might not even need a deposit...or at least will be able to get it back.

But if you order something with a manual and half doors....you will probably need a deposit and you may not get it back if you don't buy the Jeep (because they might not be able to sell it).

Most of us who order had to put down a deposit when we ordered. That's all we pay upfront. Some dealers may offer to refund you that deposit if you change your mind, but you won't be obligated to pay for the Jeep.

Here is what I'm looking to order...

Sport S in Billet or Dune
-manual transmission (never owned an AT vehicle and cannot see myself driving an AT Jeep)
-hard top
-3.73 gears
-anti-spin diff
-power convenience

Personally I don't think they would have a hard time selling a JK with those specs. But then again...I don't own a dealership, so I wouldn't know.

I've wondered the same thing and searched around. I think that you can bail on your order if it doesn't fulfill your expectations or you change your mind but there maybe a penalty to pay? I'm not sure don't quote me, research it and maybe ask your dealer specifically on their policy. Also PM Pat he's a wealth of knowledge and a nice guy.

If Jeep came out with a flat Black, flat OD Green and flat Desert Tan painted in a rough out CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) paint like the military uses they sell them all before they hit the lot. The paint wears like iron and barely shows dirt.
