Water & My Gig

I was wondering about water splashing, spilling or leaking on your stereo and electronics. I that something i need to be concerned about?

I don't expect to be driving underwater I just was wondering if there is extra protection against this or if people see this a hazard since this isn't your typical vehicle (notice i didn't say car )

If I thought I was going to have water splashing on the face of the radio, I would tape a plastic sheet to the dash that would flop over the radio. Then tape it down below the radio so a breeze wouldn't flip it back up. The radio is too expensive an item to replace should it get damaged by a few drips.

I've always thought it was less about the splashes and pressure washer and more about the condensation from wet carpets, etc. Corrosion on the wires, etc.

Most electronic equipment can get wet from clean water and be OK, as long as it dries off before use.

But that said, my cheapo radios ("system" would be WAY to big a word) in my open and abused CJs have always seemed to keep working. Not that I would really care. That's probably the rule that says cheap crap will never die; good stuff will croak immediately.
