Mine started around 8500 miles and did not get it replaced until about 13000 with no issues...

Ours has been doing it intermittantly for a few weeks. You can drive it.

Mine does it right now at 6K miles. I'll take it in sometime in the next few weeks.

People say the water pumps are on back order. My local dealer ordered one for me two weeks ago and it came in two days later.

I am sitting at the Dealership now having one put in. And it was in stock. They said the noise is common but it is annoying. Has anybody else have any issues with theirs?

Mine started a week after I took delivery. Took it in to the dealer, they said they would have to order a new w/p but they're on b/o. They did something to stop the noise and I haven't had a problem since. That was over 6 weeks ago. I still haven't received a call telling me my pump is in.

Well I went in for an oil change and have them listen to the noise. They said water pump and had them in stock. I guess I am lucky!

Chances are they didn't order it because they assume the noise will go away or that you'll stop caring.

They probably replaced the coolant to get rid of the rumored leftover casting sand that might be part of the whiney sound problem.

Mine started a couple of months ago. Two weeks ago I stopped by a dealer and ordered one...they didn't even listen to the engine. It came in and I had my water pumped swapped yesterday.

You just need some oil in your coolant to lubricate that pump bearing... once it get's hot enough to warp the head it will let some oil into the coolant and it will be good to go.

When I took delivery, it had 442 miles on it and the chirping started about 500 miles later and did it intermittently up until about 3000 miles. I've got just over 7400 miles on now and I haven't heard it since.

I had my water pump first replaced at 1600 miles on my 13, because of the chirping/beeping noise. Now at 6100, its starting to do it again, just not as loud as the first time. I took it in and the service department told me I had plenty of warrenty left, and that they found no fault currently in the pump. They also said there was no file in the system stating this this was a common problem even though I told them from my research that it was very common. I wonder if jeep is going to do something about this, or just keep putting the same water pumps that are just going to fail into wranglers everytime.

That's my fear for taking it in and getting it replaced. If they actually haven't fixed the problem, then I'll be facing this same problem later on.

same problem, 9k miles. The tech was 15 yards from my car and instantly knew what the sound was. having it replaced next thursday. I had some "backorder" problems as well, hopefully they dont give me the run-around again...

Get it fixed, and if it goes bad...get it fixed again. If my vehicle is out of warranty, I want it on my service record that the JK eats water pumps on its own, and that it is a well known problem.

In my Libby, there was such a widespread issue with the power windows, they actually got fixed for free out of warranty.

Mine just started at 7700 miles. Except mine is different. It does it only when it is dead cold. Once it warms up you dont hear it at all. I had a probably with my radiator hose collapsing so i took it in. I also investigated the overflow and saw it had the sediment in the bottom of the overflow commonly talked about on here. I brought this to the attention of the tech and he looked it over and reported to me there was no sand in the overflow. I simply replied ok and they ordered me a new 17lb cap as opposed to the 18lb, and topped off my overflow. Fast forward to yesterday (they didnt even bother calling me to let me know the cap was in) they put the top back on, checked fluids and said im good. Well i let it sit overnight and the next morning waking up for work i hear chirps. I think nothing of it and go to work. Then it did it again leaving for work and leaving from home. So i crawl under the jeep and put a light to the overflow. No sand now. Im almost positive the good cap now is allowing more movement from the overflow and throwing the sand everywhere inside my coolant system. Its gotta be what ruined the pump, the only thing thats turning me off is how quickly it shit the bed. Dealers gonna get a call from me tomorrow. Anyone think its weird it only happens when cold?
