Water Stain on Rear Bumper

Hi all. I just bought a 2010 Unlimited. My 1st Jeep and i love. Only problem i have is when it rains i seem to be getting some kind of rust/water stain on the rear bumper. Looks like it comes from the Spare tire. Anyone else have this issue?? Thanks in advance

Remove the offending part, you don't really need the bumper anyway.

It may be the coating they put on the spare to make it look purdy just for you.

My guess is it will wear off and stop marking the bumper eventually.

Welcome to the forum!

Happy jeeping.

Don't forget to wave to other jeepers.

Get it dirty soon.

Mine got filthy on the first day.

Post a pic. It could be a ton of things. Likely similar to what jk'n mentioned...

i have the same thing on my sahara's silver bumper. i believe it came from the dealer putting tire shine on the spare tire when i first bought it and it ended up staining it. i have not tried to buff it out yet but i am sure i can when i try.

a lot of times the lugs that hold the spare tire on are not coated and gain rust rapidly.

Pull your spare tire off, coat the lugs with grease, put the tire back on and crank 'em down. The grease will stop the lugs from dripping rust and it will also preserve the threads making it easy to take the spare on and off whenever you may need to. You may also want to wipe a bit of grease on the backside of the lug posts as the top where they are pressed in may also be rusting.

Something to check once a year at least. Pull your tire, check the air pressure and also re-grease the lugs and the plate surface that the rim butts up against. If left for a long period of time you'll need a lot more than a four way to remove the rim from the mount
