That's funny complaining about cabin noise. That never was an issue for me, I can't hear half the time anyways. Besides I never bought a jeep for pure comfort, I bought it for fun, which trumps every thing else in my opinion.

Really, have to be a Prius hater? I owned a Prius for 7 years before I got my JKUHR. It was the most trouble free vehicle I've ever owned. It did what it was designed for and I loved that it was smog exempt. And it was comfortable on a cross country trip. However, I love driving my Jeep and realize comparing it to most other vehicles is Apples and Oranges. This is something Consumer Reports can't seem to understand.

Lol. I saw this last week. It was rated #1 worst.

Five Worst New Cars by Consumer Reports » AutoGuide.com News
What the hell are they smoking at consumer reports???? They rate 4 total piece of garbage "cars" higher than a new JKU???? Appears they really have lost all relevance and credibility as a source of any information. As for the Prius - I personally not have anything against them - however, if you do the math, account for the higher purchase price of a Prius versus a comparable non hybrid compact , the cost of a new battery pack several years in, the fuel savings do not offset the added costs of the hybrid. Just my 2 cents

Stupendously incredulous

Woo Hoo! We've made yet another inconsequential list, sponsored by the incompetence that is Consumer Reports!

:awesome: ... :iamhappy:

I'm old enough to remember when Consumer Reports articles had some merit.

my folks bought a 2nd gen prius new back in 2005 and its still on the original battery pack. ass long as the batteries don't over heat your fine (this happened to them when driving around arizona). It is a very reliable car. That being said, they payed $47k cdn back in 2005. After 10 years the plastic interior is really staring to show its age too.

My friend owned VERY expensive sports cars and had always been a pretty good driver until he got a Prius as a company car.

After a few months of driving that Prius he became the worst driver: the Prius driving experience is so "virtual" and disengaged, the car is so quiet and unresponsive he became constantly distracted with all the stupid displays, his driving became aimless and wandering paying little attention to traffic around him, he would cut in front of others and slow them down, miss turns, sit in the passing lane, etc.

I understood then why we see Priuses driving the way they do.

I swear I'm not exaggerating when I say that at least 75% of the time that I see someone do something stupid, they're in a Prius. I don't know what it is about those cars (although the theory above me is very good), but everyone in them drives like dog shit. The worst was when I was going to work and coming in the opposite direction of me were 2 cops, a fire engine, and an ambulance, all with a Prius in front. The Prius refused to yield and let them all by and then when it did finally barely move over to let the cops and the ambulance by, it somehow didn't see/hear the massive fire truck and pulled out and cut it off, forcing the fire truck to swerve and almost crash into cars in my direction that were using their brains and yielding on the shoulder. I couldn't believe how dumb that driver was.

Plus the fact that every Prius owner thinks they're saving the planet when it reality they're cars rape the planet for its nickel for their batteries and my big ass 18mpg Jeep is better for the planet than their car is. Look up satellite views of where they mine for the nickel in Canada, it's scary. It's so barren and dead that NASA uses it to test Mars rovers. And when that lovely process is done, it gets shipped all over the world by tanker to be processed. It's like every Prius has already done 25,000 miles before it even gets built

I've seen the perfect dichotomy of prius drivers all at once, and it was perfect.

I was driving in the left lane when it suddenly ground from 80 to 60 with lots of brake slamming for an entire line of cars. As I signal to move right and pass the line (the lane was open), I look in my mirror to see a prius whip out from behind the line and come storming up past me. Once it was past I moved over and accelerated to see the car that was holding everyone up was another prius. It was a fantastic moment.

A guy I work with drives a second gen prius and is on the original battery. The interior is meh but he enjoys the car, and drives it hard for what it is. He has no dilusions about saving the planet, he just likes the mileage. And it's been a fantastically reliable car for him with 140k miles on it. I've driven it and it's a boring ride but so is my girlfriend's 2011 Sonata. And the feel is still better than the fiat 500 I tested just for kicks.

That list is ridiculous. A tacoma and JKU as the worse values? No. Not even close. The BMW and Merc I understand based purely on depreciation but the other 2 are reasonably prices and hold resale.

The integrity, or lack thereof, in Consumer Reports is glaring in that their #4 "worst car", the Mercedes S550, was given a ninety-six (96) when they tested it which was the third highest score in all of their 2015 vehicle testing. We know they hate the Wrangler and anything that doesn't fit in their myopic world but this new "worst" list is pathetic in it's disparity.

To repeat: They rate the Mercedes S550 very high (#3), BY THEIR OWN TESTING and then have the nuggets to berate it later on as the 4th worst vehicle. HUH? So that means their testing results are equivalent to golf scores now? That should make the Wrangler near the top. Or is it heads I win, tails you lose logic CR is employing here?

They should rename the rag "Consumer Distorts". They'll never regain my respect nor my trust. Ass-backwards logic from these people IMHO.

I'm 6' 1" and was very comfortable in the 2007 Prius I owned. The seats could go all the way back so I could lay flat, which was great for getting some shut eye on a long trip. I can't fold the seats down in my Jeep that far back. I never drove my Prius any slower than I've driven any other vehicle, in fact there were many times where I hit 90mph on trips. My decision to own a Prius wasn't based on saving the planet, I just liked the technology and equipment it had. Every American vehicle I've ever owned prior to that was a noise bucket with poor quality control. So it was nice to drive something that was quiet.

With all this said, I still enjoy driving my Wrangler and am glad I bought it. And I completely disagree with a Consumer Reports review of it. If the Wrangler was that terrible of a vehicle, then I doubt it would be in such high demand by consumers.

i'm glad you are enjoying the Jeep. I'm 6'4" and the fit was really bad for me in the prius. But again I agree with the people that CR is very biased and the Jeep is a vehicle they have no need of or even understand. But that's Ok, everyone gets an opinion in the USA. Otherwise we would all be driving a Zaparozhec and agreeing with the government it was the best vehicle in the world.
