Weight of Unlimited hard top?

Can anyone give me an estimate of the weight of the Unlimited hard top?

I brought home a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited on Friday and enjoyed have the front panels off yesterday. I would like to take off the main hard top today, but need to know how many friends are needed.

I had seen estimates of ~ 150 pounds on here, but don't recall if this was for a two-door or four-door hard top. One of the folks at the dealership said it weighed 275 pounds, but that simply can't be right.

My Rubi is equipped with body color fenders and hard top, if that matters.

Thanks for any help!

Average weight is 125 lbs--takes two people, or a hoist !!

My wife and I lifted it off and carried it about 20 feet to the storage locker. I would be surprised if it weighs 100lbs. This was a 4 door with the freedom panels off.

I would guess 100 to 150 lbs. You and one other person will be fine lifting it off. It's really not the weight that's an issue, it's the size/shape that makes it hard to remove without two people or a hoist. I installed a hoist last week and it's easy to do, plus it gives you a place to store it (up and out of the way.)

Whew! That's good to hear!

I was concerned that taking off the top would be a big deal, but only 100+ pounds is not an issue.

Thanks to all for the quick responses.

It is cumbersom/.odd shaped/balance is important and---

If one corner is "Slightly" dropped--it can cost over $2000 bucks to replace--you can't repair a structural "break"--it's not fiberglass !!

It's very flexable, so if left in an "UNEVEN" storage position, it'll take a "SET"--and leak !!

There are several "hoists" that can lift and store in the "UP" position, I have the RACOR HK Hoist-very satisfactory !!

Google JK/JKU Hardtop removal/storage and you'll get lotta info !!

Good luck

Took my Tj top off myself lol (don't ask) let's just say "I never did it again"

Agree, the top is more awkward than heavy, back heavy because if the window.

Took mine of (with help) and put on the soft for first time-- yay
