Weird radio "problem" last night

So I had a very strange thing happen with the radio last night. I have a sport with the upgraded Satellite + Uconnect radio (one of the 135 models). I came back out to the parking lot from a store and when I started the Jeep I had no radio (it had been playing an FM station when I shut it off). I thought that was weird and pressed the knob thinking it was off. Still nothing so I pressed it again.

Then I realized it had been on but the volume was on 0. Also it was on the default 92.5 station. A quick check revealed all my presets FM and XM were still there though XM was set to the default XM channel (18somethingorother). The time was still correct, but the CD was now on track 1 and not on the "random" setting anymore.

My phone was still paired through the bluetooth though as well. It seems like just the volumes reset and the current stations and track were reset to the defaults. Anyone had this happen? Nothing else looked odd like with the EVIC or anything.

I had a similar occurrence, except my radio had been turned off. Vol was still normal when I turned it on, but the radio and satellite stations weren't where I'd left them. Everything else was fine (phone, random select on the HDD, etc).

It's only happened one time, right around Christmas. Some kinda interference with the frequency of Rudolph's nose?

I have no clue.

Huh, well I just noticed a followup "symptom". So as I said it looks like what happened is all the volumes went to 0 ("radio" and the bluetooth which is a separate level) but also I just checked and the bass/mid/treble type settings went to the default middle settings too. Everything else seemed fine. I'll mention it when I take it in for the "free oil change with purchase" but I figure I'd check here and see if it's a known issue (search turned up nothing though).

This may be way off but my 97 ram van radio on fm went haywire and my wifes 2008 pilot went screwy. Both volume and channel presets. Solar flares? I noticed the past week the radios had alot of static and were acting out of the norm. Just giving a heads up when i saw the post.

Just wait until 2013. That will be the peak for solar flare activity. This causes total chaos for our GPS when we are out surveying. Back in 2003(I think?), the solar flare storms were so bad that we were unable to use our receivers at all one day in the Fall. What sucked was that we had 5 staff out doing simultaneous observations over on the East side of the State. The whole day was a total loss. Pretty sure that Sirius is Satellite based, so yes. I could see that solar flares could indeed muck up the signals enough to cause issues. Although, no clue if that is the cause of the OP's issue.

Just be glad that the whole Light Squared issue is done, over, and squashed! Still can't believe they were permitted to get as far as they did with their plans.....

I had a similar situation after I received my Rubi from the factory, but my radio would switch off for a moment when driving, usually when taking a turn or going over railroad tracks or something...very frustrating. My volume would be at 0, EQ flat, and it would be tuned to a different channel.

Solution: I checked all of the fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment. I found one loose fuse/relay that may have been jarred loose during shipment. 800+ miles later and my radio has never shut off again.

I hope this is all you have to do.
