I agree about the deep water.

As for the CAI there are times and products that actually work. To me that is not a true cold air intake.

On my 02 Corvette I traded in the Vararam intake was proven to add .3 on the quarter mile which is huge. Around 40 hp. However it was a true CAI that funneled water from outside into the engine.

Funneled WATER from outside into the engine????

And hear I thought I knew how an engine worked all along. Guess I better get some dryer duct venting and put mine hanging off the front bumper...

haha yea that was supposed to be air. I had water on the brain. There was actually controversy on the forums that the CAI could suck up water and hydrolock the motor (in the Vettes). It was definitely a heated debate.

Isn't that considered a short ram intake? A true CAI will take in air from out side the engine bay. Inside the bay, it is still hot air. At any rate I think $250 for a a mod that is debatable as to whether or not it does anything is too much, but if you are happy with it than that's all that matters. I have ran intake's on 2 '05 F150's (Airaid and AFE) and on a B7 Audi 2.0T (Carbonio) and didn't notice any significant gains, and each above $200

techically dan it is a short ram, but the shroud that supposedly blocks engine heat gives it the cai name, if it didnt have the shoud it would be a short ram.

it gets rid of that huge sound deadning chamber, better bends with less interuption from the non smooth rubber. and you can actually notice the difference in pickup. im happy with it.

BigMike, how was the install/fit? How does the IAT sensor fit into the aFe? Would you use this CAI w/a AEV hood (vents near the filter)?

The install took me literally 15 minutes. Fit is awesome. As far as the iat theres a clips that holds it in place on the stock rubber tube that u need a screw driver to slightly pry up to un lock it and once its out you just push it through a rubber grommet supplied in the afe kit. As far as the aev hood it seems that the vent it towards the center and the shroud would block air from the vent being its where the stock airbox sat.
