Went to the Dealer for Warranty Work and Came Back With 600 Bucks

I took my 07 in for fender reattachment before the warrenty is up and they put two very small dings in the metal above the fender. They told be about it and paid me for what the estimate was. They were smaller than a hailstone dent and can't be seen except at a sharp angle. I know I will be getting more dents and knowing someone else put the first ones on my Jeep now I can rest easy.

Half of that I spent on a Superchip. In fact, I talked to the service manager about them and said he can get them which is interesting since may people have said they may void the warrenty. I also asked why the automatic transmission oil temperature doesn't show up on the screen and that is because the tranny has its own computer system and that sensor is not tied into the one the Superchip plugs into.

I'm afraid that if you're curious as to the op. temp of the xmission, you'll have to install a seperate monitoring sys-can't get the onboard ECM to help you !!

I was surprised how much the estimates came out to be. Both of them were within $25 of each other. It's been a long time since I had an estimate on a car. I'm not a fan of repainting quarter panels to get rid of two barely seen dings. I get worse from doors at the shopping centers.

It won't void your warrenty at all.
But your warranty might be at risk; it was good to query the dealer.

I can't even get my dealership to replace the tire valve stem caps they keep losing every time they rotate my tires! I'm actually looking forward to when the full-service maintenance warranty (and the warrenty) are up so I don't have to deal with them anymore!

Warranties are ALWAYS trouble even when you've done nothing to the vehicles

HD mentions that the Superchip might put the warranty at risk and thats more than true

When you use the Superchip for your reasons, it causes mods in the OBECM memory circuits and that will show up on the dealers diagnostic computer checks, even if you set all chip changes back to ZERO

Almost everything we do to these jeeps suspensions and ECM controlled systems, we're talking chances and should be ready to face the consequences

Heh Heh, I'm sure not saying DON"T just be ready for RESULTS, I do a lot and I'm aware of the costs incurred !!

Too true, Jimbo. My feeling is that if I wanted to drive a stock vehicle I could have just bought a Dodge Nitro like all the other yuppie-wannabe-a-Jeep drivers. Is it just me or doesn't that look just like the Liberty but with different fenders?

I apologize in advance for the thread drift.

You should get the dents fixed, maybe your luck will get better, and you'll make money from that too, lol.
