Wet steering wheel

So thanks to the idiot weathermen here in VA last Thursday a forecast of 20% scattered showers was actually 4" of rain and wouldn't you know I had no top on the jeep. My steering wheel obviously got soaked and nothing works. Not my wind shield wipers, turn signals, horn, NADA. I have let it dry 4 days now and still nothing works. I have heard of this happening and it coming back once it drys out. I can't continue to drive around with no signals horn or wipers. Has anyone had this happen taken their jeep to the dealership and had this repaired? What was the cost? I still have coverage but would something like this be covered under my extended warranty? Help a brother out folks.. Thanks

Did you disconnect the battery during the drying process? You might need to do this if you are sure everything has dried out. Check the fuses, too.

Well it rained on my open jeep last night and I lost all steering wheel controls including lights, wipers, and signals. I let everything dry out and tried disconnecting the battery and viola everything is back. Yes!

There are several rain alarm apps for smart phones. I use one called oddly enough "Rain Alarm" that was free and has saved my butt more then once.

So now I get to join this club, topless and 20% chance or rain that ended getting us. 2" of rain in the floor and cup holder. So far steering wheel accessories I've tried, wind shield wipers, turn signals, (work ok) did want to try my horn and get it stuck on. Bad note is 130n radio did not want to work (going to keep it off to dry out for a few days). Removed carpet and pulled plugs and other worry is the leather/heated seats with the rain.

When this happened to me I pulled the dash off as if you would to install a radio to get any water there and evaluate if water got in to the dash. Thankfully it was minimal.

I've been reading about rain damage on the steering column, my question will jeep cover that under factory warranty?
Thanks!

No damage from this will be covered under warranty. It stinks but it's user error. Sorry to hear.

Thx for the feedback. So radio came back on but not a loud as before. Min 20's good listening level with windows down/doors or top off. Now I need Max volume. 2nd more important to my girlfriend is Heated seats. Drivers side only lights up once no heat at all.
