Wetness Behind Seats, No Clue Why

After a hard rain or two I have noticed that the carpet behind the passenger and driver seats is wet, yet I cannot seem to notice any leaks that would determine why. Could it be possible that water is kicking up from underneath the Jeep and somehow making the inside wet? Also, how complicated is it to bedline the whole interior? Greatly appreciate the help, thanks.

I would pull the carpet up and check to see if the drain plugs are still in. They might have fallen out at some point.

They're in, but they could possibly still be letting water in. Maybe once everything dries I will test it by hosing off the whole Jeep, yet avoid spraying the undercarriage to see if thats where its coming from

Nope I have the soft top, but I almost positive its not coming from the top cant find any leaks. I'm going to silicone those 2 drain plugs shut and see if that helps

It's the top. Don't silicone the plugs, you'll need to remove them to dry it out easier... Mine leaks at the seams. Not all the time, just sometimes. And they sometimes leak around the windows, and you have to remember that every time you open the door in the rain, it's getting wet inside. They can also leak at the rear tailgate. They don't seal up real well back there, and depending on the direction of the wind you can get a fair amount of water in there.

I might just silicone them to see if it helps, because I can always remove the silicone. I would never glue them permanently closed. Thanks for all the help and I'll see what happens

Inferno girl is right. It is the roof or the doors. Mine leaks and the water settles at the bottom side of both doors. If you park on an incline the water will settle behind the seats.

That's a good point, I do park on an incline almost every day. Its supposed to rain hard tomorrow, so I'll try and determine the source.

I live in Portland and it rained pretty good today. Came out to a puddle of water in the rear corner behind the passenger seat about 4" deep.

I'm guessing the Jeep is your first convertible..... They all leak. It's the price of freedom.

Maybe they all leak, but they shouldn't. The dealer has been chasing leaks on my 08, including one in the floor pan on the pass. side.

I've never owned a convertible that didn't leak, given appropriate circumstances... Not all of them were Jeeps.

I've got an '08 with the same problem except that the water puddles behind the driver seat and no where else.
No stains or signs of water damage on the soft top, no stains or water spots on the back seat which is always in the upright position and no residue or streaking on the door.
I'm thinking faulty drain plugs on this one.

No leaks in my 03 rubicon when running the soft top all summer...only time it did was when I replaced one of the upper door skins/window and didn't get the fabric pulled all the way over the wire frame-gasket wasn't meeting at the top. I've left papers and rolls of paper towels on the floor behind the seats and never had them get wet...

Before it rained hard the other day, I taped the drain plugs shut with duct tape, no wetness behind the seats that day I think its faulty drain plugs

Bingo
I'm used to 40 year old VW's, so I'm used to leaks
I figured I would have to deal with SOME accumulation, but I shop-vacced out the water this AM before work and it was about 3/4 a gallon that was sitting on the passenger side floor(front and rear combined). The drivers side is minimal.

I didn't think mine did either, till I pulled the carpet and bedlined it. Now I see the water that collects....

Nothing under my carpet, no residue either dry as a bone . And my brother-in-laws rubi does not leak either. Need to check and make sure the top goes back on correctly. Any rubber folded? They SHOULD not leak . 2008 sahara and 2010 Rubi.

Mine is wet on top of the wheel wells when it rains. Never saw it with the carpet. I then saw where it comes through the stitching.... Soft tops are just more likely to leak than a hard top in general was all I was trying to say. We've had 4 rag tops, and 4 of them leaked...

THe problem with mine leaking is it's a HT. With what they are, and cost today soft tops shouldn't be expected to leak.
