I have started with what I thought I had to have. So Hitch was first. Ace Rock sliders were second since wife and kids needed a step.

Then it was a hoist and stuff to take the top off. With top off quickly realized I wanted a Tuffy trunk. Also got some mirrors for when doors are removed.

Few little things along the way. Clear side marker lights. New Rubicon decals in Flat Black. Front jeep emblem in black.

Next will probably be a grille.

Trying to make very informed decisions so I have no regrets on the path I take with it.

The ones that make it personal to you and help it do what you want it to do or go where it needs to go.

^This...exactly...

Outside of maybe headlights, there are no universal "must have" mods. Every Wrangler and every owner is different. Mod based on how you will use the vehicle, not by what anyone else does or says.

1. Drill rear view mirrors to avoid water spots and rust-$0

1.5. Flip rear view mirror for improved visibility. It is 1.5 cause I didn't like it but it's free to try and a ton of guys swear by it.

2. Grill mesh inserts- buy online for $150 or make for $18 and a few hours labor. Improves the look of any jeep imo. I've never changed my own oil and could make my own easily.

3. Security- Depending on what you want and your lifestyle this varies. You can go the whole 9 yards with locking hood latches, locking gas cap, underseat storage box and aftermarket alarm system. All I have is the Bestop Center Console lock box. I love it, it is a great place to leave valuables.

4. Torx T-50 (and other sizes if you have a hardtop)- to take off the doors- $1.99

Other than this go have fun with your jeep and see what you want!

Yes it's super easy. I did mine about a month ago, and so far so good. Right after I slopped glue all over it, I read the bottle of Gorrilla Glue. Said not good on plastic. Crap. Well, it seems to be ok so far.

You can buy the grill mod for $45 too. After searching a few Home Depots and Ace's to no avail, I just did that instead.

First figure out what you need your jeep to do. Are you making an off road jeep better or are you making a mall crawler or looker jeep.

Other than lift/tires/wheel, do the easy peasy ones:

Tint
Rear light guards
Mesh grill
Rock Lights
Under seat lock box
Maximus-3 Mag Light holder

I did mesh grill for materials at lowes for 25.00, made my own headliners with foam board and headliner material for around 50.00, mad power hoist for hard too for around 150.00(electric hoist was 90.00 from harbor freight) did 2.4 " lift and added new 295-79-18 nitto tra grapplers, got 12000 lb winch, now need to get new bumper and install for winch to go on along with rear bumper...

Agree. The fisrt thing I did was replace the rims to make it mine. My second mod will hopefully be skid plates to protect what is important.

Thanks for sharing... So you only cut the gutter guard once? Or did you make multiple cuts be opening? Sorry for the highjack.

I've been wanting new tires and rims. BUT, I realize the ones I have (stock) are fine and nothing is wrong with them. When they wear out, then I will change. I have tires and rims already. What I don't have is a winch, good rock sliders, a good winch bumper, and rear tire carrier. That is what I will upgrade. I also want to be able to carry gas cans, a shovel, and a jack on the rear. So, its about wants, priorities, and personalization.

Tons to do on any budget...just get dirty. Make it yours and own it, but remember to take the time to do as much as you can on your own. As they say..."built not bought". Cheers!

BTW, there is NO requirement on doing all or some of the work yourself. If you don't have the skills, don't have the time, don't have the space, don't have the tools, or don't have the desire, there is NOTHING wrong with having someone else do the work.

This is the U.S. of A. As long are you're not infringing upon the rights of others, do what you want.

Regards,

The first musthave mod are upgraded headlights. No other mods, not tires, not lifts, nothing, matters as much as good headlights. You cant use any other mods if you cant see anything.
