Pretty much a personal thing really.

I think most of this crowd isn't too keen on the type of nerf bars that would be considered "side steps", and I know most of em aren't too keen on chrome

It's YOUR jeep though, so you just kinda gotta figure out what works for YOU...

I'm more of a "rock slider" fan myself... but like you said, there's almost an unlimited number of options...

just proofread that, and I'm not very helpful... but nobody else was saying anything, so welcome to the forum

Depends on your personal tastes and your plans for using your jeep. I personally got the Rugged Ridge powder coated 4" ovals. I like black, and I don't plan on a whole heck of a lot dragging the underside of my Jeep.

We've been happy with whatever we have, the stat sheet says "tubular side steps" but they don't look so tubular to me. They're nothing impressive or whatever, it was an extra when we bought. They didn't have the Jeep we wanted and we scored a pretty good deal on a jeep with too many extras. But we have been happy with these! We are pretty short (I'm 5'3, Greg's 5'5) so they are well used! Will be even more well used whenever we lift!

** sorry pic is so far away, it's all I could find since I'm not home right now
Cheers - Andrea (& Greg!)

I put the electric powersteps by AMP Research. AMP made them, then sold them to Bestop. Now Bestop is having them made in China. I got them from AMP instead since they're US made. Love the steps. They tuck out of the way when the doors are closed and are very usable steps when the doors open.

Didn't have a pic of my jeep with the step down...so here's a stock image of a red jeep with the steps down.
