What changes do you hope to see in the 2016 redesign?

I've wanted a Wrangler for a few years now, but just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. I've had a few concerns, most notably, the problem with leaks, especially from the freedom tops. I'm sure many, if not all of my concerns will be taken care of with the 2016 model.

That said, what changes do you want to see with the 2016 redesign? Here are mine....

1. Redesigned roof that eliminates leaks
2. Diesel engine
3. More headroom
4. Doors that hold open in a set position
5. More durable hard top that isn't prone to scratching
6. No carpet option

I love the look of the current Wrangler so I hope they don't do anything to drastic with the look.

I just picked up a '13 JK Sport. Have been waiting for the redesign to get one but couldn't wait any longer. Figure I'll just have to get another when the redesign comes out.
My list:
Diesel Engine (heard its coming)
At least 6 gears in the automatic
Lighter (Stitch concept)
Keep the easter egg nods to jeep ( i like them )
Better hood latches (that hood should not bounce like that)
Sloped windshield
Scratch resistant roof

Here's my list:

--Rubicon Option should also include a small lift, 33’s, and electronics sealing prep to allow for at least a 3’ water fording rating
--Multiple body options (think Defender): 2-door; 4-door; 4-door pickup (AEV Brute); 4-door LWB with two separated reclining bucket seats for 2nd row that allow pass through to a real 3rd row (AEV JK Six Pack). My belief is that there is HUGE pent up demand for the Wrangler from other types of owner’s. I know of MANY families in my circle of life who love my Wrangler and would buy one tomorrow if it had a real third row or a pickup option.
--No cost diesel option with 6-speed automatic
--Side view mirrors attached to the body
--Better seat padding and head clearance in the rear seats
--Under hood light (how many times have you been out in the dark checking something on the engine or on a trail at night wishing for this??)
--Delete exterior mount radio antenna, go with something internally mounted or integrated into the windshield
--use of stainless steel hardware in the interior (all my seat bolts and other hardware are rusting from top off exposure, even though it has never been left open in the rain or anything like that)
--Better tow capacity, at least 6k lbs. Pretty pathetic that the current model can’t even tow a decent sized boat, especially considering the overall size of the vehicle and that it runs very stout solid axles. And a lot of Jeep owners tow things, even a lot of mall crawlers have boats, ATV trailers, etc.
--Clean up the undercarriage. NOTHING should hang lower than the frame rails (see Gwagen for a benchmark here). Would be great if both axle pumpkins had the same offset also but that’s probably wishful thinking.
--Onboard “pro-cal”. If you change gears or tires, you just type in the new sizes in the settings area of the nav system, the computer recalibrates, and away you go.

My short but practical-use list:
- weatherproof instrument cluster and other electronics when topless/doorless
- HID light option
- rake the windshield just a bit more, make it stronger & non-folding
- folding hardtop (for easier storage)
- rear tailgate open from the right
- cargo hardpoints on the top of whatever hardtop they use
- secure and safe-like-build for console/glove box, tied to alarm

I think the weatherproofing of the instrument cluster and exposed electronics would make for a great marketing campaign and answer the concerns of so many enthusiasts. If I could have only one it would be this. Harley-Davidson can make a motorcycle run trouble-free in a downpour (I've been there many times over many miles) so there's no excuse for Jeep. If Jeep is smart they'll know the enthusiasts are the ones who make others want to emulate them by buying a Jeep.

How about a completely modular hard top. If you look at the rear HT side windows they are a pre formed piece. 2 door would have 2 top sections and the 4 door with 3. It would also be cool to run with the windows out. This would take some figuring out but I'm sure someone will figure it out.

Rake the windshield just a tad more so we're not replacing it every month. Probably would be better on highway driving also given that it would be a little more aero dynamic! Love the chopped top .... And would also like wing mirrors with turn signals integrated that could be relocated to door hinge when doors are removed!

Small change in the front parking/turn signals - looks more like the older Jeeps. The one on the right in this photo.

I would like to see a V8 option and a roll down rear window on hardtop models . I also like the idea of a strip down model being offered and maybe make it available for order all year with production at the end of model year for ease of reconfiguring the production line

Such a wide range of wants on this thread. Some of them practical and some of them not so much. Personally I could care less what they do since the JK I am driving probably will be the only new Wrangle I will buy for a while. If I was a betting man (I just happen to be buy the way) I would bet the next gen of wrangler loses a few hundred pounds and has a not so wide stance. I would not be surprised if they are a good bit smaller overall.

Of course I could be way off since it is just a guess, but that is all that anyone is doing at this point.

Wow should have named this thread What I hate about Jeep. And things that can be changed to Kill the Wrangler... I agree with the ones who said a more striped down version, but I prefer to keep my A/C it is nice sometimes. Yes it would be nice to have factors Dana 60's and a Diesel but that is adding a lot to the price tag for that price you can buy something like a Brute Force.

There were some really good suggestions like headlight improvements that I can say should be addressed for sure.

leak resistant tops, well buy an SUV, heated this and power that... You can have all that stuff, they make great selling options and are nice to have but I don't like them.

But if I could make one suggestion to all the auto makers across the world I would ask for Lambo Doors on every thing, that would solve the Door Ding problem.. *L* Of course I would still roll with no doors.
