What changes would you like to see with the 2012 model?

Everybody has those little things that they'd change if they could. What improvements would you like to see to the 2012?

The one I'd like to see is some type of hinge for the doors to better control them when opening or closing. Of course it would need to be something that didn't make the doors harder to remove but there's got to be a better solution than a strap.

A lot cheaper than a $35,000 jeep

$35,000 Jeep? What the hell are you talking about?

Is this going to turn into another stupid hate on the 2012 thread because it's getting a new motor? Seriously, isn't that just a little big stupid and childish?

Whoa, killer! Before jumping down someone's throat for no reason, go to the Jeep website and see how easy it is to spec a Jeep to over $35k. What does that have to do with a new engine?

If you think $35K is too much for a JK/JKU--read a book !!

Sticker price on a nice Sport model is 27k and change. You can easily get that down to 26k with some negotiating. It's a long long way from 35k.

My new Sahara that I just took possession of, stickered at just pocket change from $35K. It is indeed too much, but I did it anyway. Lots of others too.

I myself find it comical some of the prices of these JK's. My 2010 Sport cost me just under 22000 out the door. I added 17" wheels from another sport and it looks fine. No need for the fancy radio or nav ( have a Iphone and gps) or painted fenders ( there coming off anyway) or leather ( i use my JK in dirty situtions often) or a hard top ( no place to put it and a pain to take off and on). The Rubi has some advantages and I feel thats money better spent than a Sahara. Still same motor and trans no matter what you looking at, until 2012 that is, so I dont really see the 10-12000 extra. I was gonna buy a Grand Cherokee but really didnt want big payments and I want to see the 2011 prove themselfs first. Kinda like the 2012 JK, It may be a "better" motor as far as power but who knows about longevity or reliablilty. Lots of talk about the new motor but for all anyone knows it might be a down grade. Not to many GC's with alot of milage out there the judge the Penastar buy.

Come stock with the Mopar steel bumpers; option on winch; option for lift and 35s (geared appropriately); cb standard; "Overland" package with rear seat delete, shelving, fridge on slide w/stove under & propane tank; REAL FRICKIN' HEADLIGHTS

just for starters, of course.

I feel that Hilldweller is on the right track. Get rid of the AC also. A total strip rubicon model just armored from factory. I love the look of my JK with no rear seat or carpet in it. When people get in the Jeep they are expecting a "new truck" not one with no carpet and stuff hanging all over it and a big stone guarded tub. There are plenty of people that would buy a strip model. When I bought my JK i looked at 3 local dealers and found the most basic black 2dr soft top I could. I knew what I was going for and found it. I must admit, It is nice to hit that AC on sometimes when its 90 out and the top is down.

Please leave the A/C and heat....
The older I get, the more I appreciate those two comforts.

Forgot this one:

Dual Yellow-Tops from the factory. Isolator, over-ride, low voltage alarm. Onboard air would be smart too.

How about a more basic soft top system something that is just there for the people that dont care about leaks and road noise. I see that as years go by the more pressure these car companys have to keep adding safety features. Stuff like air bags and all the gizmos that keep you Jeep under control would be nice to eliminate. A no radio/ air bag option would make a JK pretty much water proof to a point. Now the steering wheels on all models have electronics in 2011 if im not mistaken. Makes those 2am Thunder storms suck alittle more.

Mopar has already put out the J8 Stripper concept. A Rubicon without carpet, has plain wheels, has lockers but no e-disco.

As long as we're dreamin', I'd like to see them pump up the volume on the bulletproof, powerful, Straight-6 motor and plug in a Straight-8!! Just sayin'...

A no carpet option would be awesome. Actually, it should come with no carpet and adding it should be the option.

Make a basic soft top like the TJ that actually overhangs the doors so water is not cascading into the door jamb.

I think that J8 would be great. The money saved on no carpet and the swaybar motor plus some basic steel wheels would off set the lockers and transfer case. The dana 44's are in production no matter what so its not like that is really a upgrade so to speak. I'm sure that could be produced in the 21000-24000 $ range

I'd like to see the full size hard doors replaced with a 2 piece hard door (upper and lower hard). Where the top half can be taken off and replaced with a soft upper half or just leave it off and then my full sized hard door could also be a half door... You know what I am trying to say?

The engineering on that might be hard, bu it would definitely be awesome.

50% discount of all shop cost for mods

But really

Better stock tires on nicer wheels that don't have backspace issue when changing tires. Better transmission cooling. Better gearing with D44 stock up front even the sport models. A better fender design. Better headlights. A stock aux fuse panel for easy add-ons and the ability to add switches to stock switch panel.

1. A new engine with at least 100 more HP than the current engine.
2. A new auto transmission with at least one more gear.
3. An auto transmission cooler big enough to do the job.
4. A new manual transmission that doesn't pop out of gear.
5. A front axle housing that does not have weak axle tubes and inner c-knuckles, and doesn't need reinforcement.
6. Re-designed axle u-joint clips that stay on.
7. Better quality front axle ball joints that don't routinely fail within 30,000 miles.
8. A better quality steering box that doesn't have a weak sector shaft that breaks too easily.
9. A re-designed door latch mechanism that does not rattle.

Get those crappy looking fenders off and just put some tube fenders or trim them up a bit. Seriously they look dumb. JK + tube fenders = beast mode
