What coating for Poison Spyder bumper?

Just ordered a Poison Spyder Brawler Lite. I'm leaning towards rattle can bedliner, but I thought I'd look at other options before it arrives. Please share what you used to paint/coat yours, and whether you've been happy with the look and durability of whatever you used.

I had mine media blasted and then powder coated total cost was $120. It looks amazing and wayyy better than any rattle can job I or anyone else could have done. If you're gonna spend that much on a front bumper, don't skimp out on coating. Here's a pic of mine. Don't the most detail of the coating but it's all I got. Oh and I did a textured black powder coat.

I'm in D/FW too. Mind sharing where you had the coating done?

Oh cool I had mine done at DFW Coatings. He has a shop at his house in Grapevine and a larger shop in Keller. Great guy and really good service. Had the bumper back 2 days earlier than expected. Here's his email, his name is Richard. sales@dfwcoating.com

I have to agree...I went with powder coating as well.

I got a great deal also in the Houston area. I rather spend my time doing other things than spraying a bumper all day IMO.

Blah. Rattle can all the way. Inexpensive, easy touch up.

Thanks!

Just ask for a semi gloss. Most shops will have a color sample for you to look at.

what ever color you go with ask specifiably for a super durable color (SD) mostly commonly we use super durable wet black (gloss black). its much stronger than a standard black, its made with the intent there will be wear on the item

not a problem, its what i do for a living. id find it irresponsible if i didnt inform you.

if you can swing the extra cost, i recommend going with a super durable black, and a super durable clear coat over the top. that would give you twice the protection from scraps and rust. powder is strong to begin with but since this is an off road application id highly recommend it. industry standard is add 50% for a top coat. so if for example the price is $100 + blasting (should be cheap if its bare metal its only needed for a profile) for a single stage you would be looking at $150 for a two stage + blasting. i used $100 for ease of math, but every situation and every part is different so you really are going to want to call your local coater for a quote since price can vary depending on a bunch of options. if you plan to add any d-rings i would recommend having those powder coated at the same time.

Looks like most are recommending powder coat. Did you fit the bumper up before sending it out for coating? Anyone have to make adjustments to fit?

I had mine powder coated with a textured satin black (Nautica Black) and it matches the factory fenders almost perfect!

I had my Rockbrawler painted to match and then had the stinger bed lined by the shop. Love the outcome. Wanted powdercoat for durability, but they could not come close to a color match.

It must just be the lighting, cuz they match almost perfect. You have to figure in the sun against plastic and steel. Let me see in a bit if the pics can come out better for ya.

Awesome thread. I'm looking to do the same bumper and already getting some quotes in the Houston area. One place quoted $575 to paint it. Unbelievable! Another shop told me $200 to powder coat. Going to get a couple more prices before I decide on one. I'm going to get both the bumper and the lower skid plate. You Houston posters, please post who you got it done by please.

my krylon job is holding up pretty well, except for the one spot that I used to tactically deforest a trail. other than that, this thing has so much clearance that I have not managed to scrape a rock on it...
