I dont know how familiar you are with how to use a hi lift but I suggest you practice at home. Make sure it is properly lubed and freely moves all the way up and down, with some weight on it.

Not at all, always wanted one, but never got one. I've read that, I'm pretty anal about knowing the ins and outs of anything before I use it and I've read exactly what you just said. Thanks!

Rock lights

Didn't have much going on today so decided to wire up some rock lights (in the one chance that I'd go wheeling at night). Just picked up some cheap LED's from Wal-Mart.

As I eluded to earlier, I'm going to test Plasti Dip Glossifier as a clear bra alternative.

The first step was testing how the Glossifier would react to paint vs. it's intended counterpart, regular Plasti Dip.

Here are the results: Peeling Plasti Dip Glossifier - YouTube

Thanks. The Army sends us all over the place. I changed my lettering to black and orange and powder coated my hooks to match.

As much as I like the looks of the Cool Tech Ultra Mount CB antenna mount, I removed it in favor of a magnet mount 4 ft whip on the hood of the Jeep. Triple the performance of the radio, guy at the radio shop showed me the difference on their meter as he positioned it. Small changes to the position of the antenna make big changes in the performance of the radio...

Did he tell you it's because the hood is the largest slab of metal on the jeep and therefore the largest ground plane Especially on HF with coil reduction type vertical mobile antennas?
You could've used a simple ball mount if you used a 102" whip

You must have a pretty calm pup!. I have the full length one that attaches all along the roll bar on top and the lip of the tub under the hardtop on the sides and my springers still find a way to get through.

Attached a stock pic of the relocation kit. Will post after I move mine.
I want to do this as well. My kids say no though they think a Jeep isn't a Jeep unless its got the spare on the back..

I am guessing you could paint or powder coat.. you would just have to be careful with the sandblasting so you don't hit the shaft...

I would say yes to paint no to powder coat. To powder coat they would have to be raw materials not assembled. I would look for shocks that are the color you want, it might be cheaper if you want powder coat quality. Google powder coat process to see everything involved in that method.
