when does the Jeep 'open up' again? i think i have read many people feeling that it kinda awoke around 3k miles.

only reason i ask is i am right at 2k and last couple days i have driven it the jeep feels like its chomping at the bit, more power than before. i have noticed the difference on my routine commute, same weather, same environment, and same tank of gas so nothing has changed except i feel like jeep has more power. i don't think i would have noticed except with manual you have ability to feel EVERYTHING and i have noticed something ...

i dunno, maybe im crazy.

After the plug and play installs, I have one question.

When you have a destination set on your Garmin, does the turn by turn show in your EVIC?

If not do you think that requires a dealer flash?

I got my first chip within the first month. I used permatex crack repair and you can't even see the chip. Life saver.

I seem to keep getting 13-14 mpg from my lead foot. She can get 17 but my foot won't let me.

thanks.... personally never ran toyos before. just bfg, goodyear and nitto.. but my buddy is running them on his rig (35s) right now and they are awesome off road... and not as loud as i thought they'd be on the road.

plus the shop i frequent sort of "pushes" them... it was an easy decision in the end.

i can't wait to throw them on, on friday...

Installed SkyJacker .75 inch leveling spacers in the front to get rid of the stupid "raked" look that the JK is known for on my 2008...

Harken Hoist

With the help of a neighbor, I installed a Harken Lift this past weekend and swapped my tops. It took only about 3 hours with the tying and retying of the lifting straps taking another hour. Works like a champ and a cheap solution.

Had her evaluated for trade-in value...a bittersweet feeling. Love my 11 JKU but taking steps to trade her in for a 13 JK 2 door. It is the classic look and feel I have always wanted. Got the JKU because I needed the space. My daughter is 21 now and I rarely have someone in my back seat. My significant other and I do have a dog, also, but he is 15 and not doing that great these days.

Am I crazy to give up the room? Checking out the 2 door Rubicon, it seems I could get the dog bed in (with the 25 lb dog in it) sideways and still have room in the back for a couple of duffle bags on top of each other. This would be with the rear seat folded up, of course.

I am awaiting pricing, but I think I can trade my 11 JKU for a 13 JK with upgrades and either keep the same payment or be below it without any money down. Would get me additional things like the pentastar engine, premium soft top (which I tried and is SO much easier to put down...I am petite so this matters big time), remote start, heated seats, rubicon offroad extras, nice wheels, etc. Would probably swap my NAV into it since I purchased that not long ago.

I have my choices down to 2 Rubis....white with black cloth rubi seats or true blue with black leather seats. Both have heated seats. I love leather but am concerned about how hot it would get with the roof off in the summer.

I welcome any feedback on any of this particularly going from a 4 door to a 2 door.

Received the Slime 2x portable tire inflator from Amazon today. Dropped a tire by 10lbs and reinflated. It took just over a minute to replace the 10lbs. I can live with that rate. Now to find a place to mount it to turn it into a cheap on board inflator.

Nothing big, but swapped out the chrome Jeep lettering for black. Matches much better now.

Most Black Jeep lettering that I have seen done was with Plastidip. Is that what you did or did you find black lettering to replace it with. If I get my white JK Rubi, the black would look so much better than the chrome.

I order a set of Mopar black Jeep letters off of Amazon for $8.50.

I used masking tape to mark the left and right boundaries of the letters. I then peeled off the chrome "p" (just "sawed" some thread behind it). Cleaned up the old residue, then used another strip of masking tape to mark the bottoms of the letters. Peel off the rest of the letters, clear up the residue, and place the new black letters on using the masking tape to align everything. Took about 20 mins.

So, the lettering is just glued on? Not installed with pins or screws or anything?

Looks great, by the way!

Nope, it is just stuck on with a padded adhesive. The replacement letters go on the same way. They are sandwiched between two clear plastic sheets so they are supper easy to align and install.

Awesome. I will be getting those, for sure. Nice easy mod that gives a little punch in the front, especially on the lighter color jeeps.

Thanks for the info!

Don't use heat to remove them. Just some fishing line between the grill and the letters and I used a little plastic scrapper to gently peal the foam backing off. Clean the surface and apply. Easier than a decal.

Ok, got it. I've done decals before. I think I still have the little plastic scraper thingy that came with the decal, too. Plenty of fishing line around here.

I already ordered it from the link you gave. LOL.

I did mine after running around town a little bit. It was warmed up enough to come off pretty easily... no extra warming needed.

I'm hearing some scuttlebutt about using hockey pucks as a 1" body lift. Has anyone done this on their JK if so pros/cons. Do you know if you need anything extra for your steering linkage? I can't seem to find a tutorial online of how to do it.
