Yeah, I'm holding off as long as I can also, but being here in Maine I can taste the Fall already. The hardtop will have to go back on sometime. Just trying to eke out as many good days now as possible.

Ran into a rock mailbox earlier. I was come back from dove hunting with some friends and a dog jumped in front of me on a gravel road. I swerved, lost traction and demolished the mailbox.
Bent the axle mount for the driver side LCA and the shock is slightly bent. Front driver tire is moved back about 3 inches. No damage to the bumper but the fender is trashed. Lucky no one got hurt.
I know some people who will fix it for me but that might be more than a week

I've always hated that dog but I'm not one to kill a dog
On the plus side: Bilstein 5100s all and flat fenders. My ACE bumper took most of the blow and it didn't suffer more than scratches
Pics to come in the morning

Darn right - life is more valuable than jeep parts.

This is not some random animal, it's someones pet. Glad you did right, but sorry it cost ya.

Well, it could of been his life instead of the dog... How about that? But I'm glad he had an excuse to upgrade lol

Yours looks better than mine. Mine looks glossy and smooth in some areas and then textured and flat in other areas. I went through two cans too. Any tips?

Really sorry to hear about the accident. I really respect and appreciate that you tried to save the animals life at your own expense. I do think however that the pet owner is liable for at least half of the damages for not having their pet properly secured. Where was the fence so that the pet can roam freely yet not endanger them self or you?

You are a hero, and a good man.... They owe you!

U can use a hair dryer ti heat the sticker up then pull it off. Use some goo gone to remove the adhesive. Then wash n wax the area.

Can I reapply a different one over it?

Yes you can just hold off on the wax till after or you might have a problem getting the new decal to fully stick.

New bumper

On Saturday, a buddy and I installed my Rampage Recovery bumper and Smittybuilt XRC10.

Install was fairly straight forward and required NO relocation of the pump although, it was a complete bi!#h to work around which was the worst part of the install.

I went from this - stock bumper that had been stubbied with a VDP kit -

To this -

The winch was simple bolt on - plug and play.

Sunday, I took it for a ride through Nemo Tunnel in Morgan Co. TN. This is the best pic I had with the winch installed.

Here's another shot (with my sons Ford Ranger in the background) -

Not pictured was "paying it forward". We took my old "stubbied" bumper and gave it to and installed it on my buddy's dad JK. His dad just bought a MINT 2008 Wrangler X and had been looking at stubby bumpers but didn't want to pay a lot of money for one. Weeks ago he commented on how much he liked the "stubbied" look of my bumper. Well, he was thrilled when we called him out to help us install "his" new bumper.

Puchased a used freedom top from a couple on craigslist. Actual condition not as good as described but no leaks or cracks. Quite a few scratches. I cleaned it really well yesterday and that made it look a lot better. Think i'm going the Duplicolor bed liner route from a rattle can to refinish. Part of me thinks I purchased it with the scratches so I would have an excuse to refinish. Also don't love the white plastic interior of it and will probably make that black as well. Have a great labor day!.

I always try to watch out for animals and have had to swerve on occasion but, if it comes down to my family's safety and well being, or their lives, I will hit the animal.
