Every other section has this stickied so I thought I would start one. Forgive me if its in there already but I could not find it.
Anyway here's what I did.
After removing the different cover for a routine fluid change I decided to paint the cover, it needed a little touching up so I thought I would go ahead and paint it red. I already had some farm equipment paint on hand, I'm pretty sure it will hold up to any temps that might be reached.

My latest LED project was to replace the stock side marker lights.

After (or "if") you cut your stock fenders, you will have a dilemma what to do with your factory side marker lights. If you're like most of us, you'll figure out how to "relocate" them like I did here - (You'll see I simply tucked them up under the fender and used one of the fender inner-liner bolts to hold it in place.)

You can see in this pic, the stock lights are a little hidden and at certain angles, you wouldn't see them at all -

This works perfectly fine and I have no issues with it other than, I wanted something "cleaner". So, I looked at my overall set up and decided I could do something a little more "custom" so off to Amazon I went and ordered a set of these, broke out my trusty drill and uni-bit set and went to work.

About an hour later, I had gone from this -

To this -

And finally, this -

Since I have a full width bumper (this would actually work on ANY bumper with a flat surface at the end), this put the lights out where they can be seen more easily and from just about any angle. Also, since I did the "turn signal mod" and my side markers are actually turn signals, I thought being more visible would be better.

For those not familiar with the turn signal mod, here's a GREAT tutorial on how to do it. http://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/marker-light-turn-signal-modification-112417.html

I don't have any night pics of how this looks, but these LED's are plenty bright enough! I'm very happy with how this turned out!

Finally got some new wheels and tires on it!
265/75R16 Wrangler Duratrac on an Ion Alloy (style) 174 rim
Can you post some more shots? Maybe a side profile from some distance...like the look of that combo....I take it that you don't have a lift. I am considering Duratracs, have a Red JKU and looking at similar wheels, so interested in more pictures to see how the size looks...thanks.

You have won my Internet Mod prize for today! :drinks:

Absolutely clean and amazing look! How did you run the wiring? Any issues with articulation and flex?

Woo hoo! I love winning free stuff! :drinks: :)

The wiring just runs along the back/inside of the bumper towards the frame, then back along the frame to where I could cut and splice (soldered and heat shrink) to the original wiring. Then, I just tucked it all in and zip tied what I needed to to make sure it would stay up and out of the way. And, no issues with articulation or flex at all.

You gotta explain how you did YOUR wiring please! I was told that you couldn't do that mod with LED because of a grounding issue. So I never tried it. Looks awesome!

Thanks!

I did the step by step in the link I provided (above) and was fully expecting to have issues as I've read about it not working with LED's...but to my surprise, it works perfectly.

I will definitely be doing this after flat fenders! Awesome job!

I went out and snapped a pic of the LED on, but it's so hard to get the proper lighting for a good pic. Here's an idea of how they are when lit up -

Here's a quick, crappy cell phone video of it. (CLICK PIC FOR VIDEO) Not sure what's going on with the sound cutting in and out - (it's my next door neighbor using his leaf blower cleaning off my driveway [he's nice that way] after mowing his lawn and getting clippings all over the place) I like how visible they are even as you come up the side of the Jeep from the back.

And someone else asked about how I routed the wires. In this pic, you can see the wiring behind the bumper and if you look close, you see it run along the frame and back up behind the front marker light. Hope that helps -

Was yesterday but I'll share anyway. Decided since it was a rainy boring day I would take my gf and my mom on the trail I posted pics of last week. Note to self: rain makes creeks rise!! Made it to the far end of the trail with no incidents, but the last creek was raging. I was like well we can cross it or turn around and go all the way back. So into the drink we went... Insert sphincter puckering comment here... Water a foot up the hood and as we got to other side the rear end decided to start floating. Made it through and out into the field only to be met with a section of creek that has to driven up that I forgot about. Got out and started walking it to see if we could make it. Turned around when it got almost to my waist, and I'm 6' 3"... So now our ONLY option was to go back down the trail which meant crossing the same creek again. This time water splashing almost up to the cowl and me in 4L prayer and swearing. Made it across safely with no stall but more respect for the Jeep. It did decide again to float the rear end and spun me down so was climbing out of the creekbed at an angle but luckily my passenger side was the high side. Water in around the rear door seals so now waiting for the weather to warm up so I can pull plugs and maybe carpet. Went over the whole Jeep when I got home and no worse for the wear(or my stupidity). Took apart the air box and everything inside was dry. Thank heavens. Went ahead and swapped the stock box for a spectre inverted cone filter for my trip to NC next month while I had the air box apart. Happy to say I know now what my jeep is capable of, and that I'm gonna try to never be that deep again. Nerves are pumped just talking about how lucky I was.
