Today I went to do my inspection and the machine broke. After this I felt like I had to get something done so I decided to have the tires rotated......big mistake. I should've just left when their jacks couldn't reach the bottom. The rear pumpkin was fine but they wind up using the axle as a lifting point. I normally do a five tire rotation so the spare was rotated too. Man this was a royal pain. First off let me just say that the Gorilla wheel locks are awesome. Even with the key the tolerances are so tight that the impact gun was having a hard time getting them in and out. Good luck to would be thieves on trying to get these wheels off.
Anyway i have the AEV back up camera that fits on the tire carrier with a bracket. The tires weigh at least 120lbs and it was painful watching the guys try to lift it and align the studs with the holes in the wheels while at the same time making sure that the camera stays centered. This took about 1 hour to do a five tire rotation. They just about gave up on the spare and barely got it on, almost stripped one of the studs and the camera isn't centered. I figured something had to go right today so I washed it. On the way home I'm hearing this rattling sound coming from the rear and sure enough the spare is loose. Thank goodness it didn't fall off on the way home because a 120lbs 37" tire bouncing down the freeway is not fun for the motoring public. Got home and went to a local tire shop to try and fix the spare and man now I know what the first shop was going through. We cursed, sweat, struggled, he took a break and changed another guy's tire, came back and we struggled some more, and after about 40mins finally got it on. So at the first shop they charged me $40 plus I felt so bad because 3 guys wind up working on my vehicle I gave them $10 each. At the second shop I gave him $20 bucks for a grand total of $90 and the camera is still crooked. At least it is tight and not rattling anymore. I scratched up my tailgate a little in the process too.
