What did you pay for your 2014 JK? Let's make a deal

Hey I saw a similar thread that was helpful on figuring out the best deals on buying new 2013 JK's so I thought I would get an updated thread for the 2014 model JK's.

Maybe we could copy and paste this format I have below and fill out the basic info so everyone can get a clear picture of what the full deal is. There are lots of variables that go into the deal - trade in, affiliate program, military discount, lease discount, financing, cash payment, etc. The more details you give about the deal the better info it is for everyone else. Here is a simple format of what I was thinking:

Model Jeep:
Order or On Lot Purchase:
State purchased in:
MSRP:
Invoice:
Holdback:
Trade in:
Affiliates Program:
Discount(military, etc.):
Doc Fees and other Fees:

Your Deal before tax and tags:

Ok, I'm sure I am missing something so feel free to add anything I am missing. My deal is not 100% official because I am waiting on granite, but this is the deal I have worked out with my local dealer.

Model Jeep: JKUR
Order or On Lot Purchase: Order
State purchased in: TN
MSRP: $38,650
Invoice: $36,746
Holdback: $1129
Trade in: None
Affiliates Program: Treadlightly
Discount(military, etc.): none
Doc Fees and other Fees: $596

Your Deal before tax and tags: Here is my deal - The dealer is giving me 2% below invoice price for the affiliates program = $36,011 and is also giving me all of the holdback - Total after 2% and holdback = $34,881. Then I have to add the $596 in fees which gives me a total price of $35,477 before tax/tags. So I am about 10% below MSRP(before fees) and 3.5% below invoice after paying the dealer fees and before tax.

Hopefully this thread will help some people out when buying a new JK and help you know what to expect before walking into the dealership. I did 90% of all my pricing thru email communication. I know this forum has helped me get to this point!

Sounds like a great idea, SP. I'd add to it, but I am STILL waiting for hydro to come out.

I hope some of the others will add to this, so we can all figure out what the best deals to shoot for are.

Thanks!

Yeah, hopefully we will get some other 2014 orders on here. Once granite crystal is ready to order in August then I will post my finalized deal here. Post your deal. It is easy

I will definitely try to remember to post it here once I get to it. You'll probably see me all over the other 2014 threads, so remind me if I forget.

Anyone else willing to post the details of their deal for the rest of us to shoot for?

SOOOO, since my color wasn't available a month ago as I hoped and expected I was never able to order. Hoping Tuesday will be the day I can get my Jeep ordered in Granite. Here is a recent build sheet on my order. I'm below employee pricing before the $299 dealer fee. With the dealer fee I am still at 4.5% below invoice. I am still trying to sweeten the deal, but I am happy happy

SP--minus the auto trans and color (granite looks sweet, btw), this is my dream build! Thanks to your half-door predicament thread, now I'm considering half-doors, too (they do look awesome). I don't see a lot of them here in the snow-belt...

Thanks for posting your build sheet; I will use it as a reference when it comes time to order mine. I should give YOU a commission!

Thanks man. When are you planning on ordering and what color?
I understand about the whole auto vs manual deal. I half way struggle with it because I have never owned an automatic Jeep. I researched and read many threads on "auto vs manual". At the beginning I was like "I'm getting a manual because that is what 'real' jeeps have" and "autos are for sissy's" . In order to figure out what was best for me I test drove both. The manual just didn't feel right to me in the JKU. The 5 speed auto was really nice. If you haven't test driven both then I would strongly advise it before making your final decision.
I was just talking to my wife about the full doors vs half doors. I honestly don't see the point in full doors if you are buying the jeep with soft top - I mean besides the auto windows. The auto locks and alarm are kinda irrelevant on a soft top Jeep. Sure you can lock and activate your alarm with the full doors, but that doesn't stop anyone from opening your soft top to get in or worse case they slash your top and windows. Go with the half doors and join the 1% club.

Model Jeep: JK Sahara
Order or On Lot Purchase: Order
State purchased in: MA
MSRP: $33,535
Invoice: $31,535
Holdback: ??
Trade in: none
Affiliates Program: none
Discount(military, etc.): none
Doc Fees and other Fees: $444

Your Deal before tax and tags: $30,765 (-2.4% invoice) before the doc fees / tax.

Also did all of my negotiation through email, way more knowledgeable thanks to this forum. This is my first post, but I've been lurking for about 2 months now! Waiting for my official order to go through tomorrow (GRANITE!) but I have the paperwork settled with my dealer already.

Haven't owned a Wrangler in 10 years... I'm stoked to say the least.

Well, my current lease isn't up until June 2014, but I highly doubt I can wait that long! I'd really like to see what copperhead looks like in person, but right now, I'm leaning towards white.

This would be my fourth Wrangler--though my first 4-door (with 2 dogs it was a bit difficult to take them and any sort of cargo with us). Definitely good advice about test driving manual vs. auto. All of my prior vehicles have been manual, but before I decide, I will absolutely test both.

I would really love to test one with half doors, but they are really difficult to find up here. I imagine I could lurk around in the local jeepers section and see if I can find someone. I had no trouble with my soft top in the Upstate winters, but I do worry a bit about visibility and durablility of the windows.

Hope you can order yours today!

So do you think this is a far price to pay?

I am currently sitting with an offer of $39,500 out the door for the below build. I feel like that is ok, but do you think I can do better?

Any tips or help with bringing it closer to EP would be great and I'll even buy the beers

So if you are getting pricing from multiple dealers do the each need the affiliate code? Will they each see what the other is doing or is the number a one time thing that you don't give until you get agreement on pricing?. Thanks for the help.

BigChief1,

You should not need to provide any control number to them until you actually pay/pick up the jeep.

Thanks. I'm finding out from discussions with several dealers that starting negotiations with the 1% is limiting. Better to ask for greater discount up front, then fallback could be the 1%.

Finally ordered my granite crystal JKU Rubicon yesterday guys and gals!

Model Jeep: JKU Rubicon
Order or On Lot Purchase: Order
State purchased in: TN
MSRP: $39,565
Invoice: $37,134
EP: $35,352
Holdback: $1,157
Trade in: none
Affiliates Program: Treadlightly
Discount(military, etc.): none
Doc Fees and other Fees: $499

Your Deal before tax and tags:

2% below invoice with Treadlightly = $742.68 (37,134 - 742.68 = $36,391.32)
Dealer gave me the holdback = $1,157 (36,391.32 - 1,157 = $35,234) + Doc Fees and tax.

My deal was a little more than 5% below invoice before doc fee. With doc fee I am about 4% below invoice. Attached is my official build

I contacted 6 or 7 dealers within 50 miles of me - Only 2 or 3 were willing to order close to the deal I got. All the others basically said it wasn't worth their time. I think you could do better, but it also depends on where you are located. That could be a killer deal in your area. I got below EP price by having the dealer give me 2% below invoice for Affiliates program and then give me all the holdback. Good luck!

Best I could get around here was 1% less than FFP, but my trade in was affecting it also.

I just ordered my Hydro Blue Polar Unlimited with auto trans, rear locker, 430N radio, AC, extra air bags, and max tow.
Model Jeep: JKUR

Order or On Lot Purchase: Order
State purchased in: CA
MSRP: $42,515
Discount for negotiating: $4500
Price: $38,015
Holdback: ?
Trade in: None
Affiliates Program: None
Discount(military, etc.): None
Doc Fees and other Fees: TBD

I used Truecar to price my Jeep and one dealer instantly offered over $4k off but they were about an hour away. Local dealer where I started my journey offered to beat it with $4500 off MSRP. Good enough for me. That's over 10%. Dealer said they were losing over $2k but I don't believe it. They said they have to make a certain number of sales each month so they are willing to take a loss once in a while. Not my problem if they agreed to it. If they weren't happy they could have said no.
